Never seen that before. What year is it? I probably never opened a later rear door. Looking good otherwise!

Not seen one like that either. If you look at the parts diagrams you can find something that does a similar job (sorry, can’t do that and give a part number at the moment).
When I fitted new doors to my car I decided to try them (they weren’t in the doors I bought the car with, though I have a suspicion they might also have been replacements and that the garage that did the work were less than scrupulous in their working standards…) I wonder if that isn’t a DIY attempt at the same thing? Though if it is, I’d have thought the outlet pipe was in the wrong place? I.e. nothing is going to drain through it as it’s too high. I also have never seen anything like that in a Land-Rover door and certainly as it is in the photograph it serves no purpose at all.
I'd bin it and go without. |

I have them in my 2002 90 TD5.
But not in that position, it has fallen out of its further up location I don’t have a picture but from memory it is fits towards the back of the door. It kind of just slots in place. Remove the weather shield, plastic or foam, remove the metal panel, keep the window up and it should make a little more sense Someone must be able to pull up a drawing to help you. |

I've scoured the parts catalogue from 1987 on and there is nothing that even looks vaguely like them in any of the side doors on any '87-on Defender.

It's a 2002 110 Dual Cab
I'll see if I can find where it slots in but I need one more. The previous owner had some work done on one of the doors and it's missing. Thanks! R |

Didn't spot anything like that in my 2005 DC doors when I was in there 🤔

Needed to wait until I was on a proper PC so I could 'cut and paste'...
No 18 in this diagram is the thing I was talking about. Might even be a picture in my rebuild thread - not sure. ![]() Click image to enlarge The part numbers are MXC9586 and 7. Quick google has them showing as available. It's on the opposite side of the door from the one the OP showed - but then we know that's in the wrong place anyway. I got a couple of these when I was rebuilding my 2nd row doors and they're still in place and doing 'something' I suppose. Interesting....if it didn’t mean a bunch of busted trim clips I'd be tempted to take the door card off mine and have a look

It's £80 to buy one!
![]() I imagine that it is LR's attempt to prevent the door stay contraption from rusting solid by deflecting water away from it. |

I can't imagine I paid that for them! At a guess it's 7 or 8 years since I did the doors and I'm going to assume they were cheaper then! Donald

FWIW I had a my rear door cards off last week to repair a lazy power door lock solenoid and my 99 build 110 has number 18 in the diagram as the water shedder in each door 🤷♂️ 2020 range Rover Mk IV Autobiography PHEV
