l hope the hackers are pleased with themselves for putting at risk so many jobs and smaller companies. l hope it affects some of their families if any of them are connected with parts suppliers.

The hackers said they've "shut down" their group. l wonder if it's gone further than they planned. With losses of over a billion pounds and rising, there must be a substantial effort taking place to find the perpetrators.

Agreed. I just don’t get it. Why do this stuff. What’s in it for them. They must be found and prosecuted however they will hide their tracks very well.

And the Certificate of Conformity. Nobody asks for it when they collect their new vehicle, but years down the line so many regret not having done it at the appropriate time and having to pay for a duplicate.

Good publicity for the Labour government on opening day of their conference, low risk for UK tax payers as all they are doing is underwriting that JLR will repay the loan.

It should not have anything to do with the UK government.

JLR is owned by TATA

The computer infrastructure was supplied by another company ...... owned by TATA

Why didn't India government step in to help JLR.

BBC are confusing JLR as a British Brand. ?????

This week BBC showed 'library' footage of JLR production line, with a Jaguar being built on the line. ................. When did JLR last build a Jaguar !!!

Yes but what about all the British companies and jobs which supply JLR. I work for one of them and the loan is supposed to help all of them.🤔

I'm not saying JLR should not be given a loan to help suppliers, but that loan should be secured by TATA, not the British Government with British tax payers money.

More government help might be needed for JLR, says MP

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c62zggj69e0o

go ask TATA .........

Tata Group comprises numerous affiliate companies, with Tata Sons as the holding company and promoter. As of August 2025, there are 29 publicly listed affiliate companies, with a combined market capitalisation US$436 billion.

The company's subsidiary Tata Motors launched the Tata Nano, presenting it as "the world’s most affordable car," and acquired Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford Motor Company. TATA acquired in March 2008 – Jaguar Cars and Land Rover, $2.3 billion

The loan will be paid back by JLR over five years, in an effort to boost the firm's cash reserves as it makes a "backlog of payments" to its suppliers.

That just sounds like a loan to JLR to pay for what they've already had from the suppliers.
No mention of the cost of lost production, layoffs and actually helping the suppliers due to lost orders.

I find it quite amazing that such a large company as Tata need a loan.

I was reading somewhere (possibly the Guardian, might have been BBC News) that the bit of Tata that the IT was farmed out to was one of the most profitable parts of the business.
