Not a normal reader of this source, but it does provide quite a detailed view of things, without being behind a paywall.
https://www.theguardian.com/business/2025/...curity-jlr Regarding the customer data that was accessed, a few websites are posting the normal precautions that should be taken: "The biggest concern is that JLR has not disclosed the specific types of data exposed. For a company of this size, that information could include: - Personal details (names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses) - Financial information (payment card details, bank account information) - Vehicle ownership records and service history - Insurance details and financing arrangements - Login credentials for JLR online services and mobile apps Until more details are shared, JLR customers face uncertainty about their level of risk. At worst, criminals could potentially use stolen data for identity theft, financial fraud or targeted scams that impersonate JLR communications." Disco 4 Owner - 110 on order |

As from the latest news, and my previous comments, I don’t think the Dealerships are any better informed than the rest of us. Must be very frustrating for them. |

I have an order for a 110 Dynamic HSE. My dealer seems to have no additional insight into the situation. I am getting concerned with the situation as to how it will impact build quality and parts supply once they do restart. This is making me consider cancelling the order and looking for another vehicle at this time.

Why would it affect build quality? As for parts, if the parts are available to build your vehicle there's no reason why it will be in any way inferior.
As for future parts availability, l think it will take a few months to fully sort out but will eventually get back to normal. |

I agree, as the smaller supply chain suppliers struggle, lower quality or alternative substitutions could be made/used by JLR to get the vehicles off the line.
Truth is we won’t know until they eventually get going again. If this goes on too long, we’ll probably be slapped with a take it or leave it price rise with a streamlined option, and with pent up demand, they’ll get away with it. My Defender was due to be built week 2 of Cyber shutdown, my concern is that in order to get building again they will reduce the availability of personalisation. If mine eventually comes not per original order I will reject it. I could have taken a compromise spec in July when ordered, having waited for a yet to be determined delivery I will not accept a compromise or increased cost and will walk away. I've heard nothing at all from my dealer, I suspect they only know what's reported in the news.

Anyone feeling they want to cancel their order, I am pretty sure to JLR it will make absolutely no difference.
There is a waitlist for Defenders a mile long and they will probably welcome any cancellations in order to sell to the next loyal waiting customer. For the same token not wanting to compromise on an ordered spec, there is guaranteed 2 or 3 more willing to accept an altered spec for the sake of moving up the delivery queue. ![]() |

Pure (pessimistic) speculation, but MY26.5 incoming with a price hike and reduced options. And they will sell like hotcakes, just as things did post covid.
As for dealers not contacting customers, even just to say we don’t know anything, but we’ll keep you updated. It doesn’t seem too much to expect. But that’s the typical dealership attitude for you. Disco 4 Owner - 110 on order Last edited by 4B4B on 24th Sep 2025 1:28pm. Edited 1 time in total |
