Boost pipe leaking..?
Hi all.

Puma 2.2. MY 2014. 31k miles.

I've got a 'air-sucking' sound coming from the n/s when under power - nothing at idle.
I'm assuming that it's one of the boost hoses - and most likely to be the one that sits under the EGR valve and has a tight 90deg turn in it towards the front of the car. Engine Management light is now on too.

I've done a bit of searching on here to try and get some advice on fitting and whether to go with OEM or silicone, etc.

Can anyone confirm that I'm probably in the right ballpark in terms of diagnosis - and if so whether there's any advice on what hoses to replace the busted one with (OEM/silicone?) - and how difficult the job is likely to be? Pretty shocked that this has happened on a 2014 car with 31k miles! Many thanks.

Hey, I have a n sucking noise on mine too 2.2 110 2015 60k. I always thought it was normal for the 2.2 when the window is open. But then I dont have the Engine Management light aswell.

Do you have a code reader? 2015 Puma 2.2 110 XS Utility Station Wagon - 2024 - Present

Hi Andy.
Thanks. No, I don’t have a code reader but there was a hole in the 90° boost pipe - so it’s definitely knackered.
My engine management light took a while to come on. You’d be losing power under acceleration if you’ve got a hole. She’ll only do it whilst moving and under acceleration.

Good question. I was caught out by this and didn’t realise that silicone was and option. I’ve only ever seen this on fast German cars with the engine in the back Very Happy

So it looks like it’ll be OEM - or worse still, aftermarket.

Hi Gal
Have a look here for instructions to change the elbow https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic81674.html. It’s quite a common failure unfortunately but there are some good quality silicone replacements available which last far longer than the original LR ones.
