A few threads that might shed some light on the potential issues and help you solve your problem

Thanks - I did search through but you've definitely found a couple of threads I didn't. sounds like I need to run through...
- Wiring (though perhaps unlikely since it's intermitting without movement) - Barrel lever frozen - Check fuses - though I'd assume a blown fuse would cause something to stop working completely vs being intermittent - Bunch of cleaning of the mechanism (I'll try WD40 all over them, wipe down and then silicone grease again) ... maybe this time I'll just completely disassemble and reassemble the mechanism to get it really clean ... - Remove the lock surrounds in case they're causing resistance (I don't think so because I have the same issue with the door card off) So of these... I'll check out the barrel lever and see what I find ++ clean it all out again, though I've done that once already. |

Just a small note to door lock cleaning - I made it on some cars without removing the lock from doors - it was sometimes succesfull sometimes not. After that, I have removed whole door lock from doors and bathed it in some brake cleaner and later in ultrasonic bath. There was allways huge ammount of dirt, old grease and metal particles washed away from the previously "cleaned" lock. After that and some lubing, locks were working better than new.
I think, to clean them propperly, removing from car is necessary. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo ![]() |
