Easy to do, take off the steering column plastic shrouds to expose the lock. Removing the snap shear bolts is a bit of a chore; you will need a small pointed punch (though I have used a large nail instead) and a hammer. Position the punch on the bolt at about quarter past and gently strike in an upward manner with the hammer. Continue until the bolt moves, then unscrew it. You will need new shear bolts when installing. Make a note of the wiring before removing it, so you get it right when replacing the wiring For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

I installed that same kit a few months ago. It came with the steering lock cap and sheer bolts, which are not shown in that photo. Luckily I had my dashboard out so was easy.
EDIT: Hmm I've just checked Advanced website, and it looks like you are right. It all came in one box. So I must have ordered the cap and sheer bolts separately. |

Failing how? If its electrical connections (that the garage have cleaned) the switch can be changed without the lock mechanism, cheaper and easier......

If it is the switch that needs replacing as per Keith’s question above then member “The Anti Christ” posts a method of doing it without removing the ignition barrel 9 posts down in this topic https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic56773-60.html
