Rear wiper judder
I have a minor rear wiper issue I need to sort and as I am taking the rear wheel off the door soon (changing alloys) I figure it would be a good time to look into it.
My rear wiper judders across the screen when returning to the hold postion. I have put a new blade on and its no different. The only time it does not do it is if its extremely wet.
This is my 4th defender so I no its not normal, any thoughts? 2015 Puma 2.2 110 XS Utility Station Wagon - 2024 - Present

Hi

Have you coated the rear screen with Rain X or a similar product?

You can try cleaning the glass with detergent and fine grade wire wool. Then finish it off with a wipe over of decent glass cleaner.

Good shout I will give that a try. Its a minor irritation that I have been meaning to look at for a while. As I am taking the spare off soon anyway I figured now is the best time to do it 2015 Puma 2.2 110 XS Utility Station Wagon - 2024 - Present

Put some twist into the wiper arm. The blade needs to be held at 90 degrees to the glass. Your wiper arm has possibly taken a knock at some point and is no longer at 90° so is pushing the blade across the glass rather than dragging it as it returns to park.

Forget the fancy snake oil treatments. Not necessary if you just get it set up correctly 👍

Cheers, I will try that a try, Though if its 90° in one direction would that not make it 110° in the other direction? 2015 Puma 2.2 110 XS Utility Station Wagon - 2024 - Present

My poor wiper performance, was down to a couple of things

knackered wiper blade, arm not sitting right and probably caused by worn splines on the wiper motor.
Replaced all of them and now much better! 1999 Defender TD5 110
