Clutch went to the floor and stayed there
So a couple of years ago my clutch failed on the M1 - pedal went to the floor and wouldn't come up.

Local independent replaced clutch, bearing and slave, and I replaced the master cylinder - all good

A few days ago was moving it about 20 meters to clean the driveway and clutch went down and stayed there - had to pull up by hand. Was fine after that but clearly there is a problem.

Haven't had a chance to check the master for fluid level but is this a case of cooked slave or master cylinder?

On Td5 and beyond there is a spring installed on the clutch pedal on the inside (cabin side). It overcenters and ensured the pedal stays positively up at rest, yet provides and assisting force at the downwards stroke to make the clutch lighter.

If your pedal is not correct adjusted the overcenter spring can prevent the pedal from coming up especially if you clutch is a bit on the light side, has some air inside or the overcenter spring is a bit too heavy (LOF does a beefed up green version).

You might want to check if the system needs a bleed or if pedal movement (stops) is within the documented setting and adjust the bottom stop.

There recently was a discussion here where the whole mechanism and it's function was discussed in detail

Start with the obvious and check the clutch fluid level. A failing master cylinder can also do this with no fluid loss.

It could be the MC, but more likely the slave. Usually is, as it’s the most likely to be a pain. Rolling Eyes ____\We|Will|Win/___

I bought a vehicle with the clutch pedal on the floor.
It was the pedal seized on the shaft it pivots on.
Oiled it and moved it up and down for a while. Been great ever since, 4 years now. 😉
