Taking advantage of the nice weather refurbished the side steps

Ground off the rust from where the powder coat had chipped off, the rest of the powder coating and the rust that was underneath the powder coat Rolling Eyes

Tried Hammerite this time as the stone chip proof paint on the bumper is not cutting it.

When I fit a pair of steps next I’m going to put some internal Dinitrol in it, with one of those long applicator straws.
They need as much protection as possible. ____\We|Will|Win/___

Did mine over a year ago now and still perfect. Coated the inside with dinitrol then after a week or so liberally sprayed inside again with Corrosion X then sealed them up. Then prepped and had them coated with Rhino Liner and they’re still spot on.

I must add these were brand new steps.

Had the rear bumperettes done three years ago the same way and they’re as good as the day I did them. Thumbs Up

United Kingdom 2007 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Java Black
Today I finished off reconfiguring my load area for the third iteration. Ive been trying slowly to make it better for touring and camping. I'm quite pleased with it. The only negative is the usual shocking quality powder coat on some of the bits Ive bought.

Had a good few hours with the lady, fitted the new (heritage) mud flaps which I really like and also the Nakatanenga mud flap reinforcement brackets because of course, even after 45k Kilometers, the aluminum was broken. Very easy to fit.

Very nice Very Happy

what are the plans for the project ?

I just want to bring her back to life, not going to attempt a full on restoration by any means. Needs the usual welding in areas, a full service all fluids and filters, tyres etc. (has been off the road for 10 years with some light farm use to keep the engine turning over). It’ll probably take a few months to get it MOT ready as I don’t have a lot of free time but it’s nice to have a true ‘project car’ that I don’t need to get fixed in a hurry to use !

Thank you for the reply, sounds like a good plan to get her back on the road Thumbs Up Clayton.
