5 years and warranty nearly up
Our P400 110 will be hitting the 5 year mark at the end of October and we have to make
a decision on whether to keep it and pray to the LR gods it stays as reliable as it has in the
first 5 years for a few more, or trade it in for a new vehicle. Test drove the new Prado, nah,
not happy with the on road fidgety manners (QLD roads suck), nor the 2.8 power.. possibly move to a
D250 110, currently being quoted the same amount for a new D250 S as my P400 SE cost in 2020,
but i will also have to add all the accessories which would be another $18K at least..

decisions decisions Whistle

l would keep the one you have, it's obviously a good one.

Can you not buy an independent warranty to cover any expensive repairs?

So you are not a fan of a P425 SE, or the QLD rego cost for a V8?
If you were considering a Prado wouldn't a Lexus GX550 be closer to a Defender?

The Lexus would be another petrol, whereas a D250 diesel would be my first choice as it has
A reasonable power performance, does the Lexus variant have better on road manners than
the standard Prado I wonder ? yet another pommie bar steward down under

Not looked at an extended warranty, I will have to do some research it seems, we
do enjoy our Deffer very much, so keeping it is a real option yet another pommie bar steward down under

What's the mileage?

If it's screwed together well, and if an extended warranty is possible then I'd be looking to keep the old girl. Put the money you're saving to work somewhere fairly accessible, as a bit of a slush fund. Report back to us in another 5 years!

The GX has e-KDSS whereas the normal LC250 does not.

So yes, it is better on road than the normal Land Cruiser 250.

But it won't hold a candle to the Defender's on road manners courtesy of fully independent air suspension. 2022 Defender 110 SE P400 Tasman Blue Expedition and Cold weather package

It’s done 94,000 kms over 4.8 years, interim service with oil and filters
changed every 12,000 kms, major/full service every 24,000 kms, so plenty

Is the vehicle paid off or close to it? If so then buying an extended warranty would make the most sense from a financial point of view. One OEM DRL headlight replacement and the warranty would basically pay for itself. 2022 Defender 110 SE P400 Tasman Blue Expedition and Cold weather package

We benchmarked the wife’s MY10.5 TDv6 RRS to compare against the Prado, the RRS still had
Far better on road manners (and shoed with 18” wheels and Falken Wildpeak AT’s) and get up
N go, the Lexus costs similar to the Defender, so if I was going to spend that much I would

Bought it outright in 2020, I will have to do some research on extended warranty options in oz
that may be worth the paper they are written on Thumbs Up yet another pommie bar steward down under

I’m interested in your findings Zilch, I’m in QLD and was thinking about post warranty cover in a few years.

This really is the Aussie thread hey!
I'd keep it mate. Specs like that (really good) are uncommon here; the MY26 facelift was just revealed as an even bigger departure from the original adventure-focused philosophy.
Unfortunately, I can't really speak from experience about keeping a Defender for long. Not up to me, not my money! Current (LR):
2023 Defender 110 X D300 - Eiger Grey, Style 5094 20", Rhino Rack Roofrack

Former
2022 Defender 110 V8 P525 - Carpathian Grey
2021 Defender 90 XS Edition P400 - Formerly black, wrapped blue on sides w/ black bonnet

Interesting feedback from the Oz owners group on the book of faces, well what is interesting is that the
feedback was zero, i would take that as most vehicles in OZ at most are coming up to 5 years and that
no one has actually looked at the extended warranty as they are trading in/end of lease..

The feedback i am getting from the FB/Meta RRS owners in OZ is that many of them have paid out up
front and got Censored all back due to all the get out clauses and not worth the paper, one of course was
said to be ok, but they quote $8.5k for 3 years Shocked it is likely we will stick with ours as we did the wife's RRS and pray regularly to the JLR reliability god/devil that it does not get to expensive keeping it
for another 5+ years.. the wifes RRS was reasonably ok in the cost compartment until 3 years ago,
however since then it has been going through a significant parts replacement period.. due to its "old age"
