First outing in our basic conversion
Bit the bullet & removed all the rear stuff in the SW to build a rudimentary camper - worked remarkably well !
Flooring is a 10mm stable mat cut down from 8’ x 4’ (unbelievably heavy Shocked )
Boarding is 12mm birch phenolic ply off cuts from a minibus convertor
Insulation is 10mm foil backed self adhesive closed cell foam
Frame is 3” x 2”
Futons (x2) we’re from Argos years ago
Window blinds came from marketplace as at the time couldn’t buy new ones anywhere but these were great !
Tent awning is a Vango Cove 111 Air with air beams - a great piece of kit with driveaway function. Had a bit of an issue attaching to the truck but more operator error than anything . . .

We used it for two nights at a music festival & that’s probably what we’ll use it for mainly. It’s my daily driver however so the bed frame is stowed elsewhere so I can get the dog in.

Great fun & inexpensive too Thumbs Up

Excellent! Looks great fun.

Do the screws in those T-shaped brackets on your bed structure go right through the wood to a corresponding bracket? What are they called? Cheers!

Very Happy Cheers
No - the brackets are just on the one face albeit against my usual approach of over complicating things . . . . Rolling Eyes
They were from the hardware section at B&Q
The frame is snug against the wheel boxes so there’s no movement at all & it’s super strong.

United Kingdom 2012 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 XS CSW Firenze Red
Careful ! this is very similar to how we converted our first 110 in the 80’s... things can get expensive !! Rolling with laughter

We used that for several tours around the UK, but then went onto more complex conversion with a water tank and pump etc., which also worked well before version 3 which was fitting reclining seats, cooker/sink units and a wardrobe as part of a doormobile conversion - that worked well and was used in 2 110’s till we moved to version 4 - which is the current pop top conversion ...

Its a Rabbit hole and once you start these conversions you are always looking to improve them some how ...
Well done for how you have converted so far! looks great
