![]() We were looking to move to a place up near Cefn Mably that has a three car garage but it all fell through over Christmas ![]() I fancied a change so decided to remove my winch and soft a bar on the weekend… Front end looks bare now though so toying with idea of refitting it ![]() ![]() Click image to enlarge > 110 XS Double Cab |

Strange, isn't it? For years I hankered after a soft bar, so tracked one down, got it delivered to France and held it up against the grille, only to decide within 10 secs that the look wasn't what I was after for my truck. Sold it within a week and shipped it back to the UK. ![]() I think it comes from that age-old LR/Defender owner's illness of being envious of the look of almost every other Defender out there and wanting the same for yours. Wheel types, roof racks, winches, chequer plate, roll cages, soft tops (or not), etc etc. We're never happy with our own, always coveting another's truck and trying to find ways to stick it on your own. Or take it off only to then put it back on again. It is one of the many joys of Defender ownership which New Defender owners will never understand...."Do I buy the silly little box for my 110 or don't I?" is about the sum of their excitment... Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

You've hit the nail on the head! Also throw becoming old into the mix the appreciation of a nice standard Defender appeals a lot! > 110 XS Double Cab

Did you buy the winch from Land Rover? I have still to wire mine up to the switch but haven't looked at the cut off kit I got with it as yet... Andy

Fitted a Truwsteer steering box ahead of my MOT this weekend https://www.sp-4x4.com/QAF500110_POWER_STE...defkit.htm
As reported by others the relief groove in the input shaft does need filing deeper to accommodate the steering column clamp bolt but not a lot. The rigid pipework does need some 'adjustment' to fit but by slackening off the two retaining clips along the bottom of the slam panel the adjustment is minimal since the pipes are flexible at the opposite end there is slack that can be pulled through. Definite improvement on the old unit. Feels a lot more direct, no slop, lighter steering on the move and (I think) slightly quicker steering ratio Somehow I managed to order the standalone steering box rather than the kit so it arrived without the steering arm ![]() Which meant I needed a steering arm at short notice and resorted to ordering a steering arm of spurious quality from Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CLQWTT72 This brand new "Hoypeyfiy" steering arm failed the MOT at 12 hours and 3 miles old ![]() ![]() Also failed on a track rod ball joint which I had spotted on the weekend. Unfortunately it was too late to get spares. Fail to prepare, prepare to fail. All sorted now and back in for re-test Pair of front anti-roll bar links also ordered to bring it up to scratch. Also going to need dampers fairly soon by the looks > 110 XS Double Cab |
