I bet everything is in order and only a filling screw that has only been screwed in a bit has come loose. When was the last oilchange on the MT82? A bottle cork would have helped, but you're always smarter afterwards ...

SSM44470 - Defender transmission oil filler plug

Could it be any correlation?

If this had been a big issue, the Mustang forums would be full of it. It's just a plug (with gasket)!
