removal is the opposite of installing "Question - does anyone know the make of the rack and instructions for fitting/removal? I assume that I will need to remove both the box and ladder and then refit them." So I have been told ....... |

Thank you and yes I have seen the official Land Rover accessories guide - unfortunately my particularly roof rack is not a Land Rover one so the fixing system to the roof bars is very different.
Hence asking if anyone knows the make of mine from the photos as they are no markings on the rack at all. |

Don’t know the brand but looks pretty simple. Usually there is a T bracket in the rails.
On top of the bracket seats the roof rack. bolts and washers keep it in place. At least in your photo looks that simple. |

Show us the mounting points. That looks like a factory copy that was probably sold on Alibaba. (That's where I got mine). Mine has the same factory mounts so it's just 8 bolts. I cant' imagine it being too tough.
Maybe yours won't need the lunch box or ladder removed to get those rear supports out. Depends on how they mount. |

So the mounting system seems to be similar to the OEM Expedition roof rack except instead of having bolts that thread into a captive plate below, mine has 2 upward facing bolts held by a nut on the top. These can be seen in the photos.
I'm assuming therefore that if all the nuts are removed, the roof rack can simply be lifted upwards and removed and then the mounts can be slid along the roof rails to opening slot in the rails. |

That seems to be the way it's designed. Can you get a tool on the bolt head, or is it captured so all you need to do is remove the nut?
To get the mounts out of the roof rail you'll probably need to remove the ladder and lunch box. But maybe once you've taken the rack off you'll be able to see if they have a different design that doesn't require those steps. It's a lot easier than it looks. I've had mine on and off several times. |

Thanks - will give it a go over the weekend and report back.
I could of course just leave the mounting posts on the roof rails which, without the rack itself, might cut down on the wind noise over 60mph.
