Oooof... So just reinsured (unless I find another insurer cheaper in the meantime) with AF...

£1100 all mods declared and as a camper..

Because there is on street parking and mileage up to 10k miles a year they decided to do me in. The Yeti - 110 Camper https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic90308.html

Just had my insurance renewal with Admiral, fully comp with mods and the wife to drive (my wife), £255.14 for the year inc windscreen cover.

And it’s slightly cheaper than last years Thumbs Up Ride like you stole it!!

AF was about £850 last year, standard with 5000 miles. (AF).

90/200 pretty much standard. Value £20k. (like new, galv everything).

Just literally had lancaster call me back £2500 HOLY SH T.

Jesus christ.

NFU for the last 28 or so years.

Moved to RAC and Aviva this year. Same level of cover saved £1429 over several vehicles.

Modified vehicles still with NFU. Cheers

Anyone re-insured this year? I have mine (2013 XS Puma Station Wagon) with LV at the moment 650 up from 400 previously, 8000 mile only BAS Map and Intercooler. Was quoted 750 renewal in March as I called to see how much to add a roll cage, now in June (when it actually renews) over 1000.....
NFU similar gone up from 650 in march to 1000 now.... Lancaster >1000.
Admiral Gold (with all the same declarations and similar cover including hire cars and personal injury etc - so as like for like as I can get it) £450...... I have been with Admiral before - I just suspect they are fine until I actually need to make a claim! I know they are the UKs largest insurer!
Any other experiences for cars with mods......

Hastings my end, it would be good to see more competition though for sure.

Was M&S before, but they kept upping it a little as hadn’t changed for some time.

Thanks. I think they are forever changing risk profiles as well - 400 to 1000 on the space of 2 years is a bit much though with no changes my end to me or the car (other than a few more miles on the clock for us both!) I’ll try Hastings if they can cope with the mods.

Had my renewal for my 200tdi 90 from Aidreen Flux come through at £434, £50 less than last year.
I didn’t renew it as it’s garaged and I was going to search around for some better prices, so insurance expired yesterday.
I open my emails this morning and a new quote from Flux is there as a ‘new customer’ they can do the same policy for £234, had to call them to take the policy out, so while on the phone I decided to add my wife to the policy and it’s now reduced to £212, all mods declared, which I took out.
My advice would be if your vehicle is safe/ off the street then let the policy expire and see what they offer.

Postcode plays a part as well. Rolling Eyes

If you happen to have two addresses you could use, you might notice a difference on quotes based on that.

I tend to use compare the market, it is annoying some insurers never use that system though, and in 2025 still want telephone quotes.
I always go for RAC full recovery package etc as well, as that is good value I chose at home thing recovery.
So if for example you had the clutch go and you were at home / got home, the transport to garage would be covered, depending where you are then that can easily cost £175 + plus in itself.
Plus there is always breakdown risk which anyone could need at any time, anywhere. _\Hennessey|Venom| F5/___

I usually flip between RAC and AA with home and onward travel options. Not needed then for the defender yet! Always get the insurance to quote as well as trying to upgrade the various ‘free’ versions I seem to get with the bank that are rubbish until upgraded - seems to be highly variable when I can do this! So far for me it seems Admiral (who were the original insurer I was using back in 2017-2020 for it are coming back cheapest and don’t seem to care about the +50HP BAS remap and intercooler.

Howdens (previously A-Plan) were the best we have come across, undercut AF by approx 50%! The Yeti - 110 Camper https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic90308.html
