[…] Are these parts even subjected to any quality testing and fatigue failure tests? Having had the Sector shaft snap on a Adwest box its not a pleasant experience!

Yeah, that's my thinking as well! “A Land Rover immobilized is a moral defeat for the driver and bad publicity for the vehicle, […] it's up to you to do justice to your Land Rover!” - Land Rover Driving Technique.

That video popped up in my feed today, I wonder if it's the same, it certainly looks somehow similar...

Anyhow, his findings are quite interesting!

The LHD might well be the same but the RHD is totally different, different casting entirely.

I've got one of these at home ready to fit prior to my MOT at the end of the month > 110 XS Double Cab

I recently bought the OEM ADWEST branded one from LR Parts, it's made in China Shocked Big Cry

Hopefully it's one that's made to spec and not the cheap copy showed in the video. Well, it's certainly priced like it's made to spec so there's that. No Better Friend, No Worse Enemy

Is there anything left out there that is not „Made in China“ nowadays…? Big Cry

I find the video not all negative though, quite positive even, apart from the „fake“ casing! “A Land Rover immobilized is a moral defeat for the driver and bad publicity for the vehicle, […] it's up to you to do justice to your Land Rover!” - Land Rover Driving Technique.

I watched the video in full last night. I actually thought it was fairly positive...
The youtube comments are fairly positive too. > 110 XS Double Cab

I'll wait for next video after installing it in car. One small detail - steering ratio. I'm not sure, it he is correct, because we don't know, if the output shaft travel is the same liko on Adwest one, or wider/bigger. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo Smile

On LR4x4, someone figured out that the RHD box being used was originally from a Shogun, and the casings had been adapted to fit the LR mounts.

Fitted one of these on the weekend.

The relief groove in the input shaft does need filing deeper but not a lot.

The rigid pipework does need some adjustment to fit but if you slacken off the two retaining clips along the bottom of the slam panel then the adjustment is minimal since the pipes are on flexi's at the opposite end there is slack that can be pulled through.

Definite improvement on the old unit. Feels a lot more direct, no slop, lighter steering on the move and (I think) slightly quicker steering ratio > 110 XS Double Cab
