It's so much better Steve and yes it was a Valeo fitted before as that's my go to as the clutch is like a modern car with the easyness of use and i have fitted the same again Very Happy Clayton.

An update on Millie's goings on Rolling Eyes

After a couple of weeks or so after i had the clutch changed, the gearbox started to make a noise Rolling Eyes after a little while the noise started to get louder and louder so i organised a day with my indy to put in my spare gearbox that i have had for a few years now. On the way home from work, the day before i was due to drop Millie off for the change over, the gearbox failed big time, lost total drive, i was not going anywhere so she needed a lift to my indy so he could do the necessary work to get her on the road again. That was allot easier said than when he came to do the work Rolling Eyes The gearbox had done more damage than thought, so a load of new parts had to be ordered and i picked her up last Monday after he had her for 3 days waiting for parts. I can say now that i have a leak free gearbox and transfer box now but i am going to get a heavy duty recon gearbox soon as the one in Millie is only a standard gearbox and i know that don't last as long as the heavy duty gearbox's do for the work that Millie does Thumbs Up Clayton.

I have been down that route last year with BeaTie, cost me close to 2k. I am not sure if i had a seal failure which caused the box to lose the oil. I recon that may have happened to Millie
Thing is Clayton, these gearboxes now are not recon ready on the shelves now, as soon one comes in they get recon, then out. I was told the same thing by two different companies. Had the bearing let go? I think what saved mine from letting go was parking her up and getting it straight in. I think i could have got the price down better. Me and my dad could have changed it but again its getting the box away. I may look at getting mine re done by Ashcroft at some point, as i am still on the fence with this recon unit. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Many thanks to you all Thumbs Up

Millie is going very well and i still have to sort out a heavy duty recon gearbox for her as the gearbox in her at the moment is a standard one, then i can keep this one for a spare if needed again Very Happy

I've been a bit naughty with Millie's servicing as i get her serviced every 6,000 miles but with all the going on's with her, i worked it out that she had done around 15,000 miles Shocked so i dropped her off at my indy on my way home from work tonight and he will give her a service and check her all over tomorrow Very Happy

After i have picked her up tomorrow, i can get back to the on going project for Millie Whistle Clayton.
