Thought I’d ask for opinions on the different shows coming up and what to expect, given my experiences so far.
I’ve had my 110 since Oct 24 and there are a few bits I want to change. The internet is great for different options but there are some things I want to see in the flesh to get a feel for quality and craftsmanship - it does seem to vary considerably and not always in relation to price either. So far, I’ve been to Great British Land Rover shows at Stoneleigh and recently Bath. I was hoping for an extensive trade attendance to get a feel for how products compare (mainly wheels, tyres and side steps, but also chassis & engine conversions). Honestly, I was a little disappointed at the lack of trade exhibitors. I know why traders find shows a challenge and fully understand their reticence to attend them all, so my question is which of the shows, if any, will give me the most extensive trade experience ? Worth adding - walking through the parking areas at both shows was interesting and helpful to see some of the things I’m interested in, but not necessarily worth £18. Hopefully that doesn’t sound too tight ! I’m aware of LRO this weekend but had discounted it based on experience so far and “someone told me” the Newark show is the most expansive. I’m also aware that different owners are looking for different experiences, so not critical of what I’ve experienced thus far, just looking for something particular. Thanks in advance. H |

I went to Castlewood 4x4 Show in Cheshire last Sunday. There was Flatdog, Demand Engineering and Pennine Overland all of whom I wanted see. Spent quite a bit with Flatdog as it turns out. Tuff Trek and a few other known names were there too, but nothing like the pre-Covid days of the LRO show and the like. It does cater for other marques as well so quite few exhibitors were selling not relevant to Land Rovers. Plenty of those generic tat stalls selling pick-n-mix and plastic toys from China of dubious quality. I did get a very nice LR hoody for £25
![]() But, the biggest thing for me was the lack of punters. There was hardly anyone there. I can't see it being viable with that level of foot fall. Maybe price was an issue. 2 adults and a small child was £50 which seems a lot considering you are there spend money anyway. It was glorious weather, and well located just off the M6. Maybe they don't promote it properly. Its run by the same people who now do the LRO show at Belvoir (Live Promotions?). 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS |

You don't say what you are looking for, ie, trim/exterior/wheels etc. Rather than trawling shows as I have done in the past I now look for vehicles for sale at specialist dealers with the parts I'm interested in - and it's free
When researching pop-tops I visited Nene Overland, for Ply Guys interiors and roof tents I called in at the Ryton headquarters of JLR Classics. Some might accuse me of being a time waster but if they have a showroom open to the public then it is no worse than browsing in say John Lewis for furniture. In the end I opted for a X-Vision-X pop top (being fitted in Germany as we speak) and ordered some Harris Tweed interior trim direct from the Ply Guys |

“mainly wheels, tyres and side steps, but also chassis & engine conversions”
The advantage of a show (certainly with other Marques and specialist vehicles that I’ve attended in the past) was all those competitors in the same place, so real time comparisons. Thanks to those that have replied. I’ll continue to contemplate the options out there. |

Went to Malvern this weekend, relatively new show so still growing but there’s the usual oily second hand parts that definitely aren’t stolen😉, a couple of chassis suppliers, a tuning company, a few small parts suppliers but none of the big boys, companies selling new panels, suspension bits, bumpers, shiny bits, overpriced anodised aluminium bling, recon transfer boxes and diffs, shiny SS exhausts.
The LRO show has a bigger selection of vendors but I like Malvern as the setting is lovely and my parents live there so I can combine a visit to them with the show. The biggest and best show I’ve been to is Abenteur and ALLRAD in Germany, it’s on a whole different level to anything in the UK but isn’t a Land Rover show although they are catered for, it’s an overland show and you can spend a few euros there or a few hundred thousand🤷♂️ |

I went to quite a few shows last year for the same reasons. I found that the Billing Off Road show was probably the best one I visited. It's probabaly the only one I'm going to again this year, although the camping slots are all gone so it'll need to be a hotel if I do.

So, thought it useful to follow up from my previous - and agree with Trev - I went to Billing today and have to agree, the best show I’ve been to for volume of trade exhibitors and wares on display. Good size show, plenty to see and do, good atmosphere and decently priced food.
The Hyena Overland stand had my favourite bits on and Luke’s stand at LOF was the most pornographic for those calipers !!!! Thanks all, happy now Hayden |

just back from the not so great british landrover show at newark. it was a total waste of time and money there waqs just nothing there apart from a few autojumble stalls with very little to sell. inside were a few traders but nothing special. in 25 plus years of going to shows this is the worst that i have ever been too.
£15 each to get in and walk around it in 20 minutes . |

That’s not so good
![]() I am planning to go to the LRO show in September. I had to laugh at the advert on Instagram. There is no mobile phone signal so card machines might not work so please bring cash if you haven’t prebooked your tickets. A. In this day and age it is possible to get a mobile hot spot for card machines more or less anywhere. We were in the middle of Thetford Forrest a couple of months ago and The Forrestry Commision had done just that so the e-tickets could be viewed. B. Do the stall holders have to rely on cash? Did anyone go last year. Was the mobile signal really that bad? I’ve seen other events advertised there and they don’t appear to be asking for you to bring cash. |

Hi paul 123. What did you think of Belvoir Castle as a show?
I haven't been to an LRO Show since Peterborough. I was just a bit perplexed by the 'bring cash' notice. It's also on their website. Ok, there has been a few issues since they have started turning the 3G network off, but it is hardly the highlands of Scotland (or the North Norfolk coast - which is actually a lot better than it used to be) I just thought in this day and age, you are lining yourself up to fail, if you are turning punters away if your card machine won't work. I can't see the stall holders being too chuffed about that situation either? |

we went to belvoir, no phone service no 4g, not much in the surrounding area and not simple and easy to get to like peterborough show.
toilets were an issue the year we went. campsite was packed with folk parking on what would have been the track between rows. better places to spend you brass and we wont be wasting time going back until it moves to a better location. on the upside they took over the castlewood show and that wa s a much better show, small and not all land rovers. food was way overpriced. too many tat stalls selling rubbish that has nothing to do with 4x4 etc good access of motorway campsite was well laid out |
