car pc fitment
Hello all,

For those who have fitted a car pc into their defender , i was thinking of using a laptop which could mount into a docking station in the back with a touch screen mounted in the front. but thats just a thought, any ideas or pictures would be appreciated.

RAM Mounts used to do a kit to mount the Panasonic Tough Book series laptop into the front of vehicles.

Your police cruisers use them, or something similar.

Might be worth looking on the RAM website to see if they have a universal kit, or go for a tablet with a Bluetooth keyboard.

Again RAM do the X Grips for tablets.

I hope that helps in some way.

I built a few proper car "PC"'s a few years back using a miniITX format motherboard with a solid state HDD.
Then had a 10" touch screen on the dash. I really liked that setup as I find the files etc easier to navigate over an iPad type of thing.
I had music, video files, memory map, RAVE and numerous other tech files on it.

Trouble was I nearly ditched my 110 a couple of times when looking at the screen instead of out the window!

memory map was probably the best thing on it, but my android does virtually the same thing with backcountry navigator now.

It would be fun to try a Raspberry PI - one of the smaller ones. You wouldn't even use a regular SSD; MMC is much more compact. Plus, you can run it off USB.

I'm so tempted! But as OP said, figuring out a good mounting system is really difficult!
