I'd relook at timing belt assuming you have fuel. How long did it run for after changing belt? Cheers

Air lock in the fuel line? Assuming the timing is correct, as said above. 1983 110 automatic OM606

Are you sure you have enough fuel, at enough pressure?
Have you got power to the fuel cutoff on the pump? Is it working correctly? I would stick some brake cleaner down the air intake and see if it runs on that. If it does you have a fuel problem. |

Didn’t run for long as had a leak, probably around a minute in total but had no indication it was coughing or low on fuel. Will try an easy start and see what happens.

Recheck your timing and check it again. If the timing is right it just needs fuel and air to run, they're simple engines.

I can’t really tow it from where it’s parked, I’ve put a pipe from the lift pump to a jerry can of fresh diesel. Would a starter motor on its way out stop it? |

Have you reached the timing? As in pinned the fly wheel and the pump again?
It's 3 bolts to take off the inspection port, so, if you have not done it, it's #1 on the task list. Also - Had this been a running motor prior, or had it been parked up for months / years? |

If it won’t run whilst squirting brake cleaner down the air intake, it’s not a fuel issue you have. Check your timing |

Looking like timing needs a recheck. These are pretty simple engines, if it's.got fuel and air then its lacking compression at right time. Cheers

Take the front off and recheck the valve and injection timing, don't keep trying to start it until you have confirmed the timing is correct. Some brake cleaner isn't combustible.
