2010 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 USW Stornoway Grey
I shall be following this thread with interest @blackwolf and will be keen to see what your opinions are as you live with the new truck.

Can you expand on your comment "Being a MY24 vehicle it has minimal and very unintrusive driver assistance" ?

I very sadly gave up my last Defender in 2016, regret it on a regular basis, and I am now in a D4. But as that is now approaching 100k miles I think a change will be coming about at some point before the warranty expires next March.

I keep flirting with the idea of going back into a Puma but 1/ I need something to comfortably pull a very large Caravan and 2/ The Defenders draw too much attention from the thieving scumbags.

So the Grenadier has my attention. Proud owner 110 Utility XS

out of interest what is the reasoning of having 2x vehicles that presumably perform very similar tasks??
or will the 110 be moved on at some point??

It's not got most of this annoying stuff that beeps all the time, brakes and steers the car, taking the enjoyment of of driving. Mandatory since mid 2024,

All new motor vehicles, including cars, vans, trucks, and buses now need to integrate intelligent speed assistance solutions, cameras, or sensors for reversing detection, attention warnings in case of driver drowsiness, as well as emergency stop signals. In addition, cars and vans should now be equipped with lane keeping and automated braking systems and event data recorders

^^^ This. Apart from stop/start, which can be switched off, it doesn't have all the current annoying, intrusive, and unnecessary "driver assistance" crap. In off-road mode you can even drive with door open and no seat belt. Very Happy The wipers and lights are manual not automatic (there is an optional auto setting for the lights if you're too stupid to notice that it's dark).

I don't consider them that similar. My Defender is 18 years old, has nearly 300,000 miles on the clock, and works and plays hard for a living. It's not a show pony, it has a few (tasteful) battle scars, and it's regularly off road, deep in mud, or in water up to the door handles. It transports everything from crane parts to bleeding dead stock and regularly tows up to 3.5 tons. Whilst there are things I will happily do with the new one, there are many things that I will not consider doing for a long time. The Grenadier is probably worth six or more times the value of the Defender and I'm not completely stupid! Laughing

That explains a lot about my recent experience with a Land Rover Assist courtesy 74 plate RRS - it felt at times like I was in a cage fight with it Shocked Proud owner 110 Utility XS
