Tow Bar removal
Hi,
I want to remove a two bar from my 2015 Defender 110, and can see the bolts to remove the tow bar itself, but what is the best thing to do with the connector for the towing lights?
Many thanks,
N

You might find its a plug and play setup. From memory the connector hides behind the plastic panel in the wheel arch 1999 Defender TD5 110

Thanks - looks like it goes all the way to the front of the car and connects with the electrics and gearbox for reverse lights...for now, I have zip tied it out of the ay, so I can get on with angle grinding and painting the rear cross member and sorting the step. Cheers

If it as per factory wiring the towing harness joins the main rear harness via a connector located behind the mudshield to the rear of the rear offside wheel (between the mudshield and the rear tub).

Thanks blackwolf - this isn't a factory fitted tow bar...there is a cable running from the connector the length of the Defender chassis as far as I can see. Cheers

As yours is a 2015 Puma Is it a 13 pin trailer socket ? If so the genuine wiring loom connects behind the offside rear arch as stated above, but also goes to the front battery box. Perhaps that’s why you are seeing

Thanks Ian, it is a 13 pin connector and it looks to be exactly what you say is happening...For now it is zip tied out of the way so I can angle grind the rear cross member and paint it. Just need to decide if I leave it or see how difficult to remove.

Ah, I hadn't factored the 13-pin aspect in.

I was just going to mention if it was 7 pin or 13, but you all beat me to it.

That adds some more fun to it all having to use adaptors to switch between the two types for sure. Laughing

Ian has answered that correctly I think, and the other connector is located where BW mentioned.

Tbh you can likely safely secure it the socket just out the way with a zip tie I’d have thought. _\Hennessey|Venom| F5/___
