Depends which engine you have. Anything with a battery 10000% yes for warranty. 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS.

£1400 would quickly be swallowed up in a repair bill. I guess it depends on how much a couple of hefty bills would hurt you should the worst happen.

l think they are all a MHEV at least, so will have a battery. I was thinking the same about the warranty, mine runs out later this year and l have been quoted just over £100 per month for the extended warranty. lt may well be worth it, with the price of parts. Does anyone know how comprehensive the extended warranty is, does it cover everything? |

I believe the early P300 is a pure petrol only, non MHEV. Happy to be corrected. 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS.

Maybe the early version wasn't, as you suggested.
lt may also depend on the destination country for the vehicle. ![]() Click image to enlarge |

Pretty much everything mechanical and electrical, including MHEV electrics - see image from policy summary. There are "wear and tear" exclusions including the exhaust/DPF, etc. ![]() Click image to enlarge Current vehicle: 2020 Defender 110S Gone: Defender 90 HT 200Tdi, Discovery Sport, Freelander 2 Insta: wizzardprang |

These lists of internal components always concern me, why list engine parts that few will understand what they are?
Why not say, "the engine and gearbox are covered" it makes me think there's a get out clause if the engine were to fail "oh it's damaged the casing and that's not covered, and it needs a new sprag clutch and that's not covered either" ![]() Click image to enlarge |

Had this with the BMW recently. Warranty cost ranging from £470 to £1400 (BMWs via Allianz) . I thought the best cover was via Warranty Wise and if you look for a discount code, there is a a reasonable saving to be had. (circa £600 with discount)
I've not yet taken the cover out but may consider it later this year. BMW has been fault free so it would be odd for it to start at 3yrs and 9 days |

Tis a simple D250, so mild hybrid. Which is just a slightly larger battery.
The non OEM idea is a good one - if a fraction of the LR one. |

The one good thing is since the introduction of D Series engines there doesn't seem to be any recorded "known issues"...I know a couple of LR techies who work at main dealers and they have not seen recurrent issues.
the independent who services mine describes them as "reliable" Unusual for a JLR product.?? When my warranty expires Im just going to run with it and ensure all maintenance requirements are exceeded. The LR warranty is the most comprehensive as far as I could tell, and is the best all round option in my opinion.
My D200 will be five years old this December and I won’t be able to extend the warranty any further so I will be running the gauntlet beyond then. Keep a pot for repairs as you should with any vehicle out of warranty. At such a low mileage you’ll be able to extend it for some time to come if you so wish. |

I’m running the gauntlet now. The car is a January 2021 so over 4 years old. It’s been reliable. Only failures have been the well documented headlamp halo led failure. Both my headlamps failed within 6 months of each other. Plus front parking sensors packed up.
LR gave me 80% contribution to first headlamp and park sensors. Nothing on second headlamp. So faced with a bill of over £3400 for a headlamp I found a place local that repaired it for £300. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV 1966 S2a 109 aka Betsy |
