If the "genuine" remap is a LR software then l can't see how LR could refuse a warranty claim.

After all, the engine is supplied with that software in the Range Rover. Personally l am happy with my D250 and never use all the performance even when towing the caravan.

But l can fully understand people wanting theirs remapped. There's no real downside and you get an extra 50-100bhp with more torque.

Trust me... if they notice that ANYTHING has been changed with the motor, then they will refuse warranty cover!!

It doesn't matter if you have used the Genuine remap or if you have used a aftermarket remap!!

I know this because I have a D5 that had the DETUNED version of the TDV6 (150KW rather than 180KW).

This is due to taxation. The engines are identical... it is just the tuning that is different.

I asked my dealer if they could map it with the 180KW, and they said that "could" do it, but that it would invalidate the warranty.

I then asked Alive Tuning, and they told me that they could also do it, but that each time the map is applied, there is a "counter" that increases... so the dealer can "see" if it has been modified.

They also said that if it is "mapped" (even with the OEM files), that the vehicle RISKS losing warranty not only on the engine, but on the whole drive train (transmission, diffs etc) because LR will say that you are putting more power in to the components than JLR designed when then manufactured the vehicle.

We all know that the engines are internally identical, but they don't admit that.

So... I would think VERY carefully before mapping the engine while the vehicle is still under warranty because JLR will use any excuse they can to not pay out if they can!!

Changing a D250 to 350 takes two seconds off the 0-60mph time. Down from 8 to 6.1

So it's definitely worthwhile if you want more performance, (and your Defender is out of warranty) The engine/transmission etc should be fine as it's available with 350bhp in some versions.

Did the remap from D200 tot D300, and makes a very big differance for me. A D200 is not slow, but my 90 is now really a fun car to drive also on road, overtakes and short sprints are awesome.
Yes there will be a risk attached to it if you run in to issues, but so far i would not have it any other way
