Bumper colours
Hi All,

My Defender 110 turns up at the dealers tomorrow. It's a standard 110 S model in Carpathian Grey. I think the standard bumpers stand out a little too much against the grey so was thinking of getting them painted - my question is what colour do you think I should go with? I was thinking Santorini Black, but I'm not sure. PS, on one of the threads on here, I was told the dealers will paint the bumpers for around £350 - but that doesn't seem to be true. Mine are offering it for just over £900. Quite a difference. Anyway, if you were me - what would you do? I like Gareth's landy but suddenly realised that the X-Dynamic trim and HSE spec has different coloured bumpers - may just opt for something like that. Any thoughts? All ideas welcome.

To brighten up the Carpathian color, no Black or bodycolor

I suggest :

Shadow Atlas Satin, color code LIC

or

Silicon Silver Satin, color code 2213

If you deliver the disassembled parts to your paintshop, maybe arround £ 300,-, all expensive colors above.

Front:
Lettering
Grille
Skidplate 2 parts
2 Foglight surrounds

Rear
Lettering
Skidplate, 2 parts
2 small parts.

Labour, much more than you think including the Lettering retape and aligning No Mud flaps for my 90.!

Can you view these choices on the configurator? I like the idea of a contrast too as when I looked at my car earlier this week I thought that my idea of colour coding might not work so well so I've been mulling it over since. These two suggestions have merit but I need to see them first.
If not on the configurator would my dealer be able to create a visual?

I ended up photoshopping colours onto the car. My dealer actual told me to avoid silicon silver because it would essentially turn my car into an X-dynamic - and he said these are quite popular. He suggested the black. You'll have to see what I ended up with for the great reveal (probably next Friday).

I think a body shop for a car like the Defender, should be able to mock up stuff for you. It's definitely something that's missing as a service.

The Silver rear bumpers on the standard new Defender really look naff. plasticky and. Poor. Reminiscent of a Ford Kuga. Need to be in a dark shade.

I agree - they really stand out when you pick a colour like Carpathian Grey. My dealer can paint them to any colour for around £900. And depending on the colour, I feel this is something that really transforms the look of the car. The car is getting painted on Monday - when it comes out I'll send some pics. It's also getting the side steps, cross bars and classic mud flaps put on it. I'm pretty pleased. There are some second hand Defenders at the moment - in only S spec with a couple of packs added going for well over £75K from some dealers at the moment. I also know some people that have taken receipt of their new car and then immediately sold it for a decent profit. It's pretty crazy at the moment. I will have spent maybe around £56.5K on my Defender when all is done - which I'm feeling pretty pleased about as for a 110, it's only £7K above the absolutely base price on the configurator.

But far better than the nappies on all the other LR models

And once you put a chequer plate style topper on them the do look OK IMHO

I need to get one of them - my dogs will annihilate the bumper otherwise. Rolling with laughter

I think I'd be getting something that fills the entire bumper top front-to-back not just a strip in the middle if I were you - you might have to custom cut your own Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

I actually liked the look of the X Dynamic but not the gloss painted corners and sides because they are not Off-Road / scratch proof.
I ordered the black headliner, Ebony Dinamica Suedecloth ( same as by X Dynamic), powdercoated my cross car beam dark grey.
So my 'regular' S has now a lot like an X dynamic, but without options I didn't like.

I’m glad I had mine painted, I think the silver standard bumpers look out of place with santorini black.

Mine were painted gloss black.
