Quick Go Kart build
As it was such a miserable wet day my son and I quickly rummaged around my workshop and put a go kart together. Very rough and ready but he loves it!

great fun, reminds me of my exploits with pram wheels (remember them) and a few planks of scrap wood. How I survived some of our downhill runs I will never know. Thumbs Up 2010 XS USW

Great fun... remind me how many times I pinched the skin between my thumb and my index finger when one of the front wheels hit a pothole as did not use a rope to control the steering Whistle
But was great fun. But this country had become to be an urban jungle, and pity my kids that all their play is behind a 10" screen. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

That does bring back memories, big pram wheels at the back for me as well. A good part of the fun was building it out of bits of old wood etc.

I guess that’s what started many of us on working on our cars and resulted in loving landrovers and defenders.

Excllent. Watch your ankles in a crash. They were called bogeys when I was a lad. My friend’s Dad was a joiner and made us a really smart one. It’s main failing was the pram wheels, the spokes would fail during high g cornering. My Dad welded us up a push bar so one of of us could run behind shoving it along and then jump on like a husky sled. We upgraded to wheel barrow wheels on the rear axle, looked like a dragster, but made it too heavy. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

class!! Thumbs Up me and my cousin would have loved that!
30 years ago, i had a go kart, that you would pedal, me and my cousin would take turns in going down the steep hill, and around the back lane. Not sure how we managed to stop Laughing We must have played for hours. Only thing that happened was the nuts coming off the seat, and mam finding replacements.
Ended up going in the skip if i remember right, it was never used, due to the area i moved to. You couldnt really do take it out. Plus i had grown to large to fit in it. I think someone actually saved it funny enough. as my dad went back about 2 mins later, and one of the lads had took it out, for their child.
the 00s generation wouldn't even know anything like this, to much in to their computer games. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Looks great Jeremy.
I had many hours of fun on mine, including as an adult. Whistle Laughing
Heaviest load in the trailer was a Series 3 Gearbox which made pedalling tiring.

Some 25 years or so ago, had what probably was an old Villiers, some square section, and some plywood and wheels that I turned into an offroad powered skateboard. No brakes, no clutch.. just push to start, and jump on it to ride... but hand a hand throttle. Not sure what was the top speed, but enough to get injured Rolling with laughter Was lots of fun.... good memories.

Looks brilliant and great skills to learn

We did same when we were kids. flying down some of the hills in the Cotswolds. Great fun and many happy memories.

I suggested building one once to my step kids a couple of years ago who struggled to even leave the tablet long enough to even consider it. its alien to kids nowadays.

the kids think I am mad when they ask me what TV programs I watched as a kid - my response, very little, we played outside until dusk most days, TV wasnt a consideration.

much better times IMO but hey ho Defender D250 HSE
