Shane / MJ I’m swapping out the power steering pump and air con pump on my E70 engine for 330D parts. Please can you help with the idler under the alternator / next to the tensioner? I bought the part below, but I don’t think it’s right as I think it needs to bolt through the alternator lower mount and the one supplied doesn’t. Do you have the part number you used?

Shane, this thread has been so useful! I’m currently working on putting a M57N2 from a 2009 X5 E70 in to my 110, and was deliberating over the Blackbird P38 conversion or fitting aircon compressor and steering pump from an E90 - you’ve confirmed that’s the way to go!

(If I’d read this before buying a X5 as a donor then maybe I’d just have looked for a E90 330D instead!)

Do you have any photos of the turbo actuator rotated and the bracket? Does it clear the steering box now?

Magic - thankyou.

I’m planning to take off for the transmission cooler but if I ditch that idea I’ll take your advice on board. Cheers.

Awesome thread Thumbs Up I'm also in the process of doing this conversion, what are you doing handbrake wise? I've noticed one or two do away with the drum in favour of the park on the auto box but not sure about it.

Carrotbay,

The turbo actuator on my install clears. It’s close but it clears. The plug housing touches the steering box but I may get away with it. Otherwise, just need to trim the housing a bit.

Thanks MJ - really useful
I got my engine in this week and I’m probably a few mm further forward as the actuator plug is very tight against the steering box. I’m going to space it back a little on it’s mounting bolts and that should do the trick.
Good to see the belts, just waiting for some bits to arrive and that should sort that. What are you doing for power steering hoses?

Hi Carrotbay, regarding the power steering hoses I read that off the shelf 200tdi are a direct fit so could be worth a look to save a few quid, Ive noticed people offering a conversion for double the price of these Shocked

Sorry Carrotbay, i didnt see the last bit asking about the power steering hoses.

I got some hydraulic pipes made up. I'll take a picture and send you the size and lengths of the hoses. They are pretty short as the pump is right beside the box. I will do it this evening or Thursday Very Happy

So this is what £200 pounds of air con fittings look like Big Cry

I was struggling with the air con as they use a different type of fittings and trying to get my head around it. Finally have it cracked and plan is to machine a new block with threaded fittings that connects to the evaporator and then buy an Eaton hose kit and make the hoses myself, Heading to machine shop Thursday to see how much it'll be to machine the block and maybe make a couple
