Thanks Grenadier Very Happy Very Happy I've been busy carpetting the back and converting it to Puma forward seats.

Engine is all ready to go in, I'm waiting on a friend to come and measure up a new bracket for me to rotate the turbo actuator 180deg so I can fit the steering box, otherwise I would have to buy the P38 bracket from blackbird industries and P38 steering box which is quite a hit to take Big Cry

I'll never say no to a free holiday Laughing Laughing I'm planning on heading down to an old friend in the north of Spain, I'm sure I could swing around on my way back up so you can have a nosey Very Happy

Had an early birthday present from Lucari, can't wait to see them in the truck, my god the price of td5/puma seat sliders. think I'll just bolt them in

So a little side project. I had A/C on the bucket list but didn't really want to do it as this stage due to spending a bit too much money. I had planned just to leave the bolt off the A/C pump and blank the ports temporarily. However I had to fit the 330D pump due to my earlier post explaining why. However the 330D pump is a variable pump and constantly runs, there's no mag clutch on themand so begins the A/C parts hunt.

An A/C matrix is 400 pounds on Ebay and I really didn't want to spend that. I decided to buy a new evaporator at a cost of £188 and disassembly my current matrix.

removed the bottom cover and removed the heater core

removed the blank filler plate where the evaporator is to live

I was hoping I could just nicely slide the new evaporator and not disassembly further but in the interest of not damaging anything I decided to keep going as often the longer road is quicker

To be honest there's no chance you would fit it in at this stage and the seal is an absolute pita to get it, that took the longest out of everything

so onwards and hoping no springs shoot out and disappear

Not forgetting to remove the tape for the evap drain plug and a bit of a clean

so after 30mins effort i have a A/C heater matrix Very Happy Very Happy

Am I correct in thinking that you've effectively added an AC evaporator in front of the existing heater matrix? Just wondering if such a modification could be achieved in the pre-2007 style heater box?..... 1985 127 V8 Build Thread

I have a pair of new seat sliders you could take? Some of the ball bearings came out so not so smooth but I bought new bearings to add. I am sure you could get them working nicely again . Let me know Andy

Looking nice Shane are you not using the exhaust sensors? Is that the 3" system?

Hi Shroppy, i had a quick look on microcat and the AC matrix for the pre puma looks completely different design then the standard heater matrix. I see minisrty of defender make a AC kit and i'm sure you could install to a td5 or tdi setup

Thanks Shane, the AC on pre-pumas is indeed very different (and obstructive to those with long legs). I had seen the Ministry of Defender kit but it's pretty pricey, hence wondering if something similar could be achieved by adding an evaporator (and all the other bits) to the existing heater box. Perhaps I'll have a go when it comes to refurbing mine. 1985 127 V8 Build Thread
