I saw a Rover Metro at lunch, a proper 1.1 in white still with the wheel trims on, it looked so out of place bless it.

Well given this has been off the road since 2019 and I have never passed another I thought I would share my little van. Photo from the weekend testing the electrics - on the road next weekend with luck

They are cracking cars, i owned 3. Parts though are getting very thin sadly, hence why i moved away from them, but the market on them has shot right up. 2k gets you a shed of a GTI Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

The other day, i saw a black mk3 escort cabby and later, i was behind a J reg 190E estate. ( or some sort of merc of that size) Had been dropped with rear camber. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

That was our first family car I remember (circa 1967-1974). Ours was blue with Consul seats fitted in the rear. I still remember it being sold and crying my eyes out ☹️

One of my (female) friends lost her virginity in a X19 back in the day - they must have been eager (and small!)

Did any survive? They all seemed to vanish from our streets so quickly!

Maybe junk!!! Wink


I had an X19 in the early 1990's.... after 4 years most of it has rusted away (Fiat bought loads of cheep Russia tin as did Lancia......) and what was let stopped working! Fantastic little mid engined car though.

Anyone seen a triumph stag on the road recently ?
In the late 80’s a friend had one with the original v8 3.0L engine which made a lovely sound. Those engines tended to overheat and die, then get replaced with a Rover 3.5 V8 or ford 3.0V6, neither sounded as good as the original 3.0V8.

Most came with a soft top plus a full hard top roof you kept in the garage for winter use, which caused some storage issues and paint match issues as the main vehicle paint faded due to sunlight but the roof did not as it was mostly in the garage during the summer.
