I think if you asked anyone that had just bought something whether they made the right choice they'd say "yes" so it is unsurprising that he went for the Toybota.
Conclusion seemed to be: LR: Better articulation Benefits from having rear coils (we've known this for years) Better ground clearance Better up hill on the rough stuff Better seats (and dash IMO) Better for adding bits to Toybota: Better down hill (I've heard about that anti-stall issue but it was very interesting to see) More airy driving and rear seating More accessible load bay More dust proof (as those of us who spend time on trails will attest) Better on-road characteristics As he concludes, not much in it. He likes the everyday driveability of the Toybota. Personal opinion but it completely reinforced just how good the Defender is for me! Well,
At least here in Chile I didnt had too much option when bougth the Defender (Toyota Land Cruiser doesnt exists here  )
By the way, if I understand well, the big difference appear to be in the tarmac, in the off road my sensation in the article is that the Defender is better than The Land Cruiser except in some cases (i.e. descend). In our case if the car can do well in the Tarmac no problem, we are not seeking a van. The second row is also no problem (our daughters are sit there with an spectacular view) As I allways said for us have a Defender is a compromise between the family car to use everyday and the rough car to go anywere. May be for others like the presenter the tarmac driveavility will be more important. Cheers! agreed.
I guess if you're overlanding then tarmac is also important. That said, I use mine extensively on tarmac and I have no complaints. Off road, the Defender seems to be better (apart from the seals). One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS + New Defender 110 First Edition |

Difference for me is. The Land Rover is warranty covered for off road use, and the Toyota aint.

I like the toyota....good motor..just remember chaps that if jag/landy go under...at least we have a viable option
Granted doesnt look as good but still ticks all the boxes...4.2 diesel.....nice You cannot teach stupid people to do clever things |

If jag/LR go under then I'm swapping a 300 TDi into my 110 and will keep it going myself
