Btw the thermostat is not a three way valve, it doesnt stop the flow from circulating, it only introduces the cooler side in a mix where some of the hot coolant is recirculated and the hot side into the radiator pushes the cooler coolant through the thermostat.

That is why it fails more often than not. Can't leave well enough alone

Installed only on the very early Pumas, from 2008 it was no longer installed by LR . Absolutely redundant (it is the temperature of the water that drives) and induced too many oil pressure drops. Indeed, if installed it is better to remove it.


@dgardel - I have a coolant leak from the elbow at the oil cooler joint. Would you suggest removing the thermostat and just running the coolant pipe direct to the cooler?
