United Kingdom 2007 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Tonga Green
Yes but you forget that us pre 2011 Defender owners get to feel all warm and fluffy inside knowing our obscene RFL costs will be doing their utmost to save the planet.

Well that's what they told me anyway... Laughing Big Cry Big Cry Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion.

i'm ordering a 110 soon and have been following this discussion, does anybody know if the propschaft will be the same as with the TD4 2,4?
i will need to fit heavy duty suspension with a lift, i know from expereince from my def 90 TD4 that the propschaft had to be double joint because of noise.

Well I went into my local dealer to investigate a new 90XS and they claimed to know nothing about a 2.2 engine. I was categorically told that an order for a new Defender would be three months and would come with a 2.4?

Which dealer did you go into?

It was Lookers in Chelmsford. Reading Car magazine this morning there was a review of the new Jag XF Diesel and it says the engine is a 2.2 Ford-PSA unit, so I guess this is the same one going in the Defender.

Well .... when I ordered my new 90 SW at the end of June I was told delivery time would be at least 5 month (they reckon beginning of December) and that the car will come with the 2.2L engine!!!

(Back in June they were already unable to enter orders for a 2.4 in the LR PPS ....) Best Regards,

Axel

It seems quite unusual that some dealers say the 2.2 is coming and others know nothing about it. The Land Rover website still says the 2.4 is available.

mines coming mid september dealer confirmed its a 2.4 but will be one of the last they get.

A friend ordered one about a week later then wanted to change the spec about 2 weeks after placing the order and was told if he changed the order it would be a 2.2

Curiouser and curiouser...

In my quest for a new one (now thinking about a 110 USW) I spoke to a different dealer in Yorkshire who confirmed what my local one had said - there is not going to be a 2.2 anytime soon and my order (for delivery in Nov) would come with a 2.4?

Hmmm ... strange .... but when I ordered mine back in June they also had not heard anything about the 2.2 and claimed that it would still be a 2.4 and that the car would be delivered in September .... After I had signed the contract they phoned me after 2 hours and let me know that they had been unable to enter my order for a 2.4 into the LR odering sytem and that it would now be a 2.2 instead and that delivery time would be at least 5-6 months .... They also seemed surprised by that ... apparently LR had not sent out any information whatsoever to the dealers in advance ... and still has not done so! .... but most LR dealers over here do not seem to know anything about Defenders at all anyways .... Best Regards,

Axel

Do you think a 2.7L or 3.0 L TDV6 engine is an option for a new defender?

I really want a new fender but want a vehicle that'll tow a 2.3 tonne caravan comfortably as well when not going bush?
I meet a few blokes who have put in V8 TD, but I want to stick to factory fitted engines having been there before with non standard engines.

A chipped 2.7l or 3.0l would suite me just fine.
