After being told by ASO that Froome wouldn't be able to ride in Le Tour the UCI have now cleared him to race.

Should really have been cleared up months ago. Dragging it out has done nobody any favours.

I suspect Froome being ‘innocent’ will mean nowt to the partisan French crowd offering their ‘support’ to him at the roadside for 3 weeks!!

Bring on the Tour, go Froomey.

Will be getting in at least the Alpe d'Huez and Annecy stages this year. Epic.

Good news is, after twenty years of drip-feed, I have turned Mrs Grenadier into a Tour-Bore as well, so I can watch all coverage with impunity Bow down Monsieur Le Grenadier

Delighted for Froome...and agree its taken far too long to resolve, which just add fuel to the fire of those who want to point fingers...so jealous of those who are on the doer step of the epic stages, I've cycled AdH and Ventoux and the pro's are super human in the way they tackle those climbs! Sold Def 90 HT 2010...Stornaway..(SOLD in Oct 2014)

Lucky them (you), lovely spot. Cycle Annecy a lot. Was registered to do this year's Etape, (Annecy to Grand Bornand) but not nearly enough KMs under the belt with my bike being stuck in Palma in the back of the DC. Three weeks lost. Big Cry

The stage loops round the lake and then head's up the right of that twin-peaked mountain in the centre of the photo, up the Col de la Croix-Fry. Just the first of four cols (3 x 1st Cat, 1 x HC) and over 4000m+ ascent. Not one I could do with under 1000km of training and none in the last 3 weeks. Whistle Monsieur Le Grenadier

I see they have 8 man teams instead of 9. Is that new this year or did it come in last and I didn't notice?

Yup. Giro was the first GT to do it, but all the week-long tours have done it this year. Trying to break Sky Domination. You'd have thought to do that you'd say Sky have 8, the remainder have 9 otherwise they're all still on a level playing field. I think the UCI was quite excited by the racing and tactics in smaller tours such as the Tour of Britain which fielded smaller teams. Monsieur Le Grenadier

Did you see the data dump from SKY? Seriously impressive stuff. The level of detail regarding fueling etc was next level.

Very much so. Indeed it's how I like to approach my training rides Whistle

But yes, impressive stuff. I'd certainly heard all the chatter from Sky as to how the general tactics were planned, this further data is pretty amazing vis-a-vis the level of detail they went to. Of course, the nersayers don't believe it. But watching it live and then reflecting on what happened where and how, looks 'chicken-soup' to me. Of course huge amounts of luck (you make your own luck as a pro) thatthe chasing GC contenders didn't descend as fast and that between them they couldn't organise how to reel CF in left TD to it. Epic, whichever way you look at it, possibly the best stage I have ever watched. And having done Etapes and 1000k multi-day rides, and having what Mrs Grenadier thinks is a very, very healthy appetite (and being a solid cyclist at 85kgs) I'm amazed that CF could put away 1.2kgs of carbs the night before. I wouldn't have got up the next day, let alone ridden a bike for 5hrs, and this a man who weights 69kgs. And sups 2500cal recovery drinks Shocked Monsieur Le Grenadier
