Recycle your old Disco into a Truck
Just seen this body conversion on Facebook. Won’t win any prizes for looks, but looks like a practical thing. I’m not an expert, but if a Disco has a terminally rotten body, what are the chances the chassis isn’t suffering equally?

Interesting. Doesn't look too bad especially from the side. The colour scheme is off-putting - looks like a wooden frame with cardboard panels and a bit reminiscent of Thomas the tank engine. The front could be vastly improved.

Probably counts as a modification for insurance purposes!

Excellent idea, I wish them every success. I suspect it would be very easy to overload a Disco chassis with that configuration though.

I like that, I see Darren (LRA) took a photo of one at Bicester over the weekend,
It always seems a shame to scrap D1s, I should have kept mine after seeing that. Rolling Eyes

Does anyone know prices for the body? 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

Nice idea and good way to prolong or resurrect an old Disco.

They've done an FAQ that says they would develop a Defender version if demand is there. They didn't bother to start with as they though solid chassis defenders were too valuable and noone would want to do it. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

I heard the guy at the weekend say about £12k for a converted vehicle, which sounds like pretty good value for a very useful 4x4 truck.

Thumbs Up
I take it that’s 12k built,
Not just the kit?

I do like it, and with a bit of thought you could even make it look nice Thumbs Up 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

Interesting that, I can see that been a kick off too. farmers could use those, also its a good thing for the disco too. Too many I think really do get binned off. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

I like that, a great use of lots of rusty D1's. A friend of mine had the same problem last year, he'd had his D1 for a few years and the body was slowly rusting away. The chassis and oily bits were all sound so he scrapped the body and fitted a D2 body, wasn't that difficult either.

It must be a bit of a struggle to get into that prototype - there's a reason why all previous FC Land-Rovers had step rings on the front wheels!

I wonder how much the DIY version will be.
