PHEV or EV?
SWMBO has decided that she wants to change her car in the first quarter of next year. She currently runs a Discovery Sport which has been trouble free and she has now set her mind on either a plug in hybrid or a pure electric. She's ruled out the DS PHEV on two counts, namely she wants a change and it is an expensive PHEV.

Just wondered what experience forum members have of running PHEV's or EV's. Range is not really a problem as we always have the 90 to fall back on if we have a longish trip. Defender 90XS SW

I had a similar dilemma. Went to lease a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV in the end. Glad I didn't go EV now. No range anxiety as you can run for 350 miles on tank of petrol and electric charge.
All local running done on electric (31+ miles in summer 26- in winter) and plugs in to a normal 13 amp socket and takes 5 hours to charge.
You sit nice and high, but don't have to climb in like the Defender and have good visibility
Switches seamlessly from electric to petrol/electric to full petrol and is not slow.
No leaks and quality is excellent Very Happy

Hope this helps
Stephen

SWMBO didn't want the faff of a plug in, wanted a good dealer back up so went for a Toyota CHR hybrid 20 petrol, auto, pretty quick and economical with all the toys - just got to try and figure out how stuff works on it now.....

I'm also looking at an EV for our Portuguese home.

Bang for buck, it's hard to beat the Kia eSoul or Hyundai Kona --
