Skye_Rover,

am i right concluding that when placing a new turbo the ECU needs to relearn, when replacing the harness this is not necessary

And then maybe a question for the BAS, does the ECU have a build in learn cycle? does this run automatic? or how can we without having LR-diagnostics perform the relearn?

I guess when putting an uprated turbo the same applies, but never saw it mentioned before

The ecu know the poston of the turbo veins and adjusts as needed.

Strictly speaking, as long as the turbo actuator has not moved relative to the turbo that it is built-on, then you do not need to do any other work, other than build a new turbo onto the engine. As the unit is supplied as an assembly, the end-user does not have to worry about adaptation. This is because the Puma 2.4 uses a full-blown REA (rotary electronic actuator) that sends a sanitised position signal in duty-cycle ratio back to the ECU. The minimum flow stop physical setting should correspond in duty cycle from one turbo to another. In practice, the turbo is not quite operated as far as the minimum flow stop, to prevent gear-blocking and erroneous stuck-vane diagnostics from occurring. Problems occur if the REA is moved relative to the vane control cam (someone physically shifting the relationship), because the vane velocity limitation will not be active near the end-stops of the vane cam.

In summary, follow Pete's advice above, but allow the ECU to cycle on and off at least once before starting the engine, because the key-on and key-off parts of the vane control are done in a clever way that will prevent bigger problems on the road, should the new turbo not be built correctly. Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads.

Ive got a MY11 90 and i have the same fault codes and feels down on power. Its out of vin range though.

How complicated is it to DIY if i find im suffering with this problem?

I use it for towing so would appreciate some help.
