Extra BBUS
I am looking at fitting an extra BBUS. Instead of cutting into the loom I would like to make a little piggyback plug and play system.

Does anyone know where I can buy male and female versions of the brown and pink plug below?

I don't know the answer to your question I'm afraid, but I personally would not adopt this approach. You don't really want any of the BBUS wiring accessible to villains, and the standard location is just too accessible.

If you simply piggy-back sounders in the way you seem to be proposing, a clever villain could diable both/all of them if they can access this harness before the alarm has been triggered, which is as easy a pie (especially as the location and identity of the connectors is clear from your photo for those who don't already know it)!

You would, I suggest, be better off relocating the standard BBUS to somewhere inaccessible and if you want to fit a second, fit one which is completely independent of the factory alarm and with inaccessible wiring.

The BBUS connector is an AMP Junior Power Timer (JPT) connector -

TE Connectivity part number 144475-2 "CET 4 POS ASSY JPT"

http://www.te.com/usa-en/product-144475-2.html

It's a 'device connector' - and, AFAIK, there's no wire-mounted male version available.

I haven't managed to find anyone holding stocks of 144475-2 Sad

It would have to be ordered through a TE supplier, with a minimum order quantity of 5000 pieces.

I did find one supplier, who could supply them for €0.66 each, provided that I ordered 32000 pieces Shocked

I agree with Blackwolf.

My suggestion would be to remove the LH wing harness, un-bind all of the cables - then re-bind them, with the BBUS wires in a separate branch to the rest of the wing harness.

That way, you can mount the BBUS out of the way, in a non-standard place.

I took the picture from another post on the forum, so the location information was already there.

I was thinking of 2 options, making a plug and play extension piece to make it easy to relocate the BBUS with an additional option of adding a second BBUS.

Yes, it is well known so there isn't really any problem with the picture.

If the loom is still accessibly in that position, then irrespective of where the BBUS is physically located it can be disabled by a savvy scumbag.

It isn't difficult to modify the NS wing harness to seperate the BBUS wiring out and run it elsewhere, but you will find that the wires in the harness are tangled, and also that you have to extend some of the earth conductors (since these are conjoined within the harness at various points long its length).

You may find that you can pick up a TD5 harness (TD5s have the BBUS connector irrespective of whether ot not they have a BBUS, unlike the Puma where is it present only with a factory-fitted BBUS) on Ebay at a modest price and modify it beforehand, making the change a simple swap-out.

Be wary of the intended modification as I think it may invalidate your warranty if you are talking about your MY15? No worries if you feel you can live without it! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!!
