United Kingdom 2013 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 USW Orkney Grey
As seen the largest problem area is as Ian says the first part of the intake from the wing to and including the "Post cyclone Dad exit".

We hope to have ready in the first half of this year a new injection molded replacement air intake that ocvers this part in a larger diamiter than as seen here to solve this problem. We may also have a full new air box injection molded cost depending that offers a direct replacement and still uses the factory filter.

This will be compatable with ABS and non ABS cars as well as cars with or without snorkles.

Just a question, I plan to have mine remaped, de catted, etc when the warranty runs out in 6 months time. Can you get away with a k&n cone filter fitted to the air mass meter and do away with rest and return to factory spec if going anywhere wet etc. As ive done this to my diesel Vectra (fitted for last 8 years) and it was a lot quicker from idle to 1500 rpm when the turbo joined in, or can this damage the air mass meter as I was told by the man who sold me the filter for my Vectra and its still on its original air mass meter 13 years later advice would be nice and has anyone fitted a k&n to a puma. And done away with all the piping

I would think that would be alright. It was what i was planning to do or cwap out the bottom casing for one with holes in it and change as required. My past focus rs had that and they just let them lie. William

I have increased the torque by 11Nm? That's got to be the cheapest mod ever!

It's gives the potential of 11nm with other modifications to the inside of the air box... especially to the internal trumpet.

However it will never give more max torque than the engine one calibration is set to give. But will aid engine performance and response over the whole rpm range... and thus help it to make max torque. IRB

So a large diameter pipe linking the dirty side of the air box to the blank (heater air intake)!on the top of the drivers wing would not only raise the air intake, but also address the restriction of air travel? Not sure if that's physically possible though given the lack of space under there,

I'm not a massive of fan of cone filters as half the time they are badly fitted and do nothing more than absorb the heat from the engine bay.

Properly done, isolated from the heat of the engine and fed a good supply of cold air supply you can get some gains....

But to get the best from it you would need a matched calibration/remap to make full use of the changes to the air path set up... just fitting and hoping for the best usually doesn't give any big gain - apart from a placebo effect.

Also careful consideration must be made to MAF placement.

My Defender (running my uprated air intake) uses a 102 mm pipe between the wing intake and the airbox. It's big enough to get your arm up lol.

I have considered linking my induction to the wint top. The only issue ibe found is the induction pipe for the heater intake turns the opposite way. I may toy wirh the idea further when I get my truck back and start playing with the ibduction

It's a silicon based thin wall wire reinforced pipe....
