How can you recognise a GENUINE Denso VCV? I asked that question to Denso Germany.
When they saw the photo they thought it was not genuine Denso.
Because I live in the Benelux they told me to ask the same question to Denso NL (headquarters EU).
So I did.
Denso EU told me for them it was NOT possible to tell me if the part I bought online (see photo) was genuine Denso, or not.........
When I asked if they could give me an email-adres from someone from Denso Japan who maybe could help me they never responded to that question.

Denso parts I bought so far where packed in boxes with DENSO on it. This box doesn't look like a genuine Denso box, although the UK company sells it as genuine Denso.....

Who can tell????

I can’t see a picture, but from memory my Denso VCV came in a plain brown box. I suppose it could be fake, but it has worked fine and I got it from PF Jones who are a reputable company as far as I can tell. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

I ordered one from PF Jones also, it was £30 incl. delivery It came in a plain brown box and the valve itself had no markings on it. Questioning whether it was a genuine part in my feedback resulted in a frosty response. Not yet fitted, so I can't say if it's any good.

ok, not a superb day today. i ordered 294009-0260 from UK diesel parts which are details i picked up off here for the VCV. Part that arrived was this one: eBay Item No. 182675411549 which when you read the blurb says its equates to 0260 so should be no problem.

i actually bought it in Mar 17. anyway fitted it today and started her up. she cranked once then fired, ran for 3s or so, then revved to about 1500rpm,, died and wouldn't restart.

after much cursing and mucking about making sure i hadn't knocked any wires out displaced something i succumbed and refitted the original VCV i had just removed, she cranked twice, fired and ran as before - ie lumpy idle.

i had assumed she would start and run after reading various comments here that you dont have to the learn thing - which i cant do anyway.

So what would the thoughts be.

i didnt fit the replacement correctly?
i have the wrong replacement?
i have a faulty replacement?

i bought the replacement Mar 17, just didn't get around to sorting the it until today, so guess funds are gone if it is a faulty one. Cheers

I've never known one to do that after having a good VCV fitted, it should run ok even without a relearn. I suspect that your new VCV may be fubar, I'm afraid.

Hard to test unless you have access to another vehicle to fit it to to see if the same thing happens.

I would say either the wrong valve or a faulty valve. As said before they'll run a lot better with a new vcv and no relearn as opposed to the old vcv.

i do have another vehicle i could try the replacment one on, but for the sake of knuckles and it being a RPITA for what it is i may well source another.

Does someone have a recommended supplier and just to confirm the MPN or order number please. Cheers

I've always bought them from my local Ford dealer (nearer and cheaper than Landrover).

I used a Ford part no. that someone on here gave me, but I can't find the thread where I asked. If you've the energy to trawl through all my old posts you might find it. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS
