Cheers for reply and link retroanaconda, when viewing the link I noticed central locking article on the website, was it a tricky thing to wire up as I'm not to good with electrics but the pics of were to place actuator was good, have you any more pics of the fitting process?

That's all I have I'm afraid.

It's not tricky to wire up, the only connections to the vehicle were a 12V supply and ground. The rest was just matching up the wires from the actuators to those from the control unit.

Amber LED Grille Lights
I recently fitted these, they won't be used often but they are very discreet

I don't have video of them working as I only got them wired up recently, fitting jobs like this around work is so frustrating!

The installation is completely reversible if I want to remove or replace, they are mounted to alu box-section which is zip-tied to the grille. I still have 4 spare LED units from the kit, which I'm either going to keep as spares or mount in an additional location, I've still to decide which.

Chuck them up on the rack Mark with a connector inside at roof level so if you take the rack off all the "spare" wiring stays with the rack.

Rack is already taken care of though, although with the beacon mounted at the rear its not so visible from the front, hence the grille lights which can be controlled independently. Mark S

I modified the washer jet to a twin-jet system today, using the holes in the bulkhead designed for LHD wiper spindles.

Bought on eBay and it really is bright!

The control unit sits on the Mud tunnel tray, ideally it will move to the dash when I can extend the wiring loom appropriately.

I fitted an auxiliary fuse box today, in the battery box under the passenger seat. I bought it from Vehicle Wiring Products a few months ago, but only got around to fitting it today. Currently just has radios (CB & Amateur), Beacons & spotlights wired in, the heated screen wiring will hopefully be getting connected up on Friday. I also plan to fit a relay/switch/wiring for roof mounted spotlights while I've got the dash apart anyway, but not have them connected at fusebox end.

I've not shown the cover in place, & in this pic I still had to clean out the bottom of the battery box & reinstall the battery.

Only just seen your post from January Mark ", fitting jobs like this around work is so frustrating! " Tell me about it! Have a backlog of jobs to do, probably forgotten some!

That fuse box is the same one I've got, also from VWP. Really good, in fact, for a while I had it almost full up with cables from bits and pieces, including a 100w heater. I had to really HD cable (not quite battery size) from the two +ve ends to the battery, and it coped fine. There is a rating for each side, and I didn't actually exceed it, but it looked strange having such thick cable going to a fuse box!

Edit: actually not too dissimilar from yours

I can see also, perhaps some of your holes need new grommets in them, covered in mud, just like mine Twisted Evil

I like your twin washer jet idea, too, very good, did you go for normal or heated ones?

And the Defender vents, a better spread on the windscreen is an interesting bit of information, and one that I guess a lot of people probably overlook! 1998 110 300Tdi White Hard Top

The cable to the fusebox is actually cut from a set of jump leads, with a ring terminal crimped & soldered at each end & heat-shrink to protect it.

The defendervent do give a better spread of warm air on the windscreen yes, & I've got a heated front screen to wire up then I shouldn't have any problems with visibility this winter. Washer jets were just standard, I use concentrated screenwash so it doesn't freeze.

Somewhere in the garage I've an extended breather kit that I bought in 2007 & have still not fitted.... Mark S

I had a heated front screen fitted by LandyGlass at the LRO Show at Peterborough last month, & I finally managed to get it wired up today. I probably could have done the wiring up in a day, but the weather & other things kept interrupting! I used the Mobilecentre loom that was part of the LandyGlass deal, it was great with long enough cables to work but not so long that you had loads of spare to tuck away. I mounted the relays under the passenger seat next to my new aux fusebox, which meant it was dead easy to wire in for 12v + and - through the new box.

It was p'ing it down when I finished putting the dash back together, so taking a photo wasn't first on my mind.

I also took the opprtunity to fit my aux lighting switch while I had the dash out anyway, and I routed 4 wires from the dash to the battery box, although to wire up spotlights I really only need three it made sense to route 2x twin core cables. In theory this means that when I get LED spotlights to mount on the patriot rack, all I need to do is connect up the relay, connect main beam warning lamp to the end of wire behind the instruments, and run wires along the chassis rails & up the ladder to the roofrack.

Oh, and new tyres are on order, hopefully getting them fitted on Tuesday.

Finally got around to taking a pic of the dash having wired up the switch etc for the heated screen, and also one of the new tryes that were fitted on Tuesday. I managed to get them muddy today, nothing exciting just picking up a coule of paving slabs from the field where we keep our horses.
