United Kingdom 2005 Defender 90 Td5 HT Cairns Blue
Thanks Nick Thumbs Up

I've got a friend who has a pair and does ploughing, he invited me to have a go some time but one of his is a very lively stallion and almost went through a hedge with the other shire and plough.
I don't think I'll have a go thank you Laughing

I went to the royal cornwall show last year and the had a tug of war, one shire against 20 rugby players, guess who won Rolling with laughter then lots of people on face book complained about it and they stopped doing it Rolling Eyes never seen working horses I guess.

We got Albert (nearest on the black and white pic) from a marriage break up, and another who was 19.1 hands, and they were both ridden, still got the saddle, but it's a long way to fall Shocked

Rolling with laughter yeah it is a long way to fall, my cob youngster keeps getting taller (should make at least 16h) and now Im the big 4...0 I dont bounce like I used to Laughing

What surprised me, the first time I saw them ploughing many moons ago is how fast they can go even pulling 2 furrows.

Stunning.

I cant believe the ignorance of some people, why would you stop a horse vs rugby team tug of war, surely that would be a bit of fun for everyone to see , The horse wouldnt have been bothered at all. Rolling Eyes 2003 Td5 90

No the power of them is amazing, it wasn't a big shire and just dragged them around. When they first push into the collars you know about it.

I've had ours go on us a few times, one of them pulling the flat bed dray with the brake on, two tons on it and the other shire is nothing to them, they did take a three foot thick wall out once Whistle

And when they stand on your foot, well thank god for steel toe cap boots Shocked you still know about it though Crying or Very sad

Congratulations!! Great to see you helping this amazing breed. Am I right in thinking it's still classed as an 'endangered species'? Thumbs Up Bow down James

Thanks Tim, James Thumbs Up

Yes, the Suffolk is on the red list of endangered species. Considering they were once so numerous working the farms in East Anglia & elsewhere there aren't that many left at all now. Every single successful birth helps Wink

...and Prince certainly is a handsome fella ...as are all the others here Thumbs Up Steve.
