We're working on some serious security products for the Defender, but why not try shearing / security fixings (i.e. bolts that shear at a set torque limit) and need to be drilled out. How often do you need to remove the bonnet? This might be a solution.

The bonnets aren't held on with bolts. If you lift them up high enough they just lift out of the hinges.

Worrying isnt it Whistle

Well that's a bad design Laughing We'll look into it

Can you not extend the bike lock idea, so that the lock/chain goes round something lower in engine bay. So that the lock/chain can be pulled tighter, and only unlocked by going under the truck. Sort of reverse idea of how the French cars store their spare wheel Question Question

Just a thought, although not much use to me...........

Not sure if there's anywhere to put them, but I used hose clamps on the hinges of the tailgate of my pickup truck. With a hex or something similar, not having the right tools may be enough to make the scum give up, but as I said these may not be applicable to the bonnet. Current: 2011 Shogun SWB 3.2td 200hp stock, Auto (my knees are shot), but this is a great farm truck
Prev: a Disco (got old), a Range Rover (too ostentatious) and a Defender (knees).
Tractor: 1993 Ford 8830, 6.6td, 180hp at PTO stock

There needs to be a rational brainstorm on here about this bonnet lock issue, which has already brought up some good points.

The bike lock idea is OK , but surely why attack the lock when they would probably go for that metal bonnet reinforcing strut instead with a cutter in even less time, leaving the lock behind if they want it that much.

I would favour a lock on the outside, simple, effective and at low cost. Surely there must be a manufacturing company looking in who can see some money to be made if sold to all us PUMA owners out there to make it worthwhile for their boffins to design one. Get some SMARTWATER and put your postcode somewhere under the lid, and wait for it to comeup on Ebay and then summon the troops !!!

A sticker on the screen stating BONNET LOCK FITTED/ALARMED or even SMARTWATER one could deter a few me thinks........or I'm off to get some nine shot for my shotgun, as there must be more than two of them doing this, and with 9 shots I should let them all have it in one go!.

Could always have a sign saying: LOOK UP NOW YOU THIEVING B******on the inside too Rolling with laughter Thumbs Up

I must admit they did look good when I first saw them. Got the price but how much hassle is there in fitting them.
Looks like a bit of cutting to me or am I seeing it in the TO DIFFICULT mode with my eyes??
