United Kingdom 2013 Defender 130 Puma 2.2 SW Rimini Red
Ive not long had a new BMW GSA 1250, it came with a datatracker. If the bike is moved without the ign on and the remote next to the bike it alerts Datatrack and I get a text message. If I dont respond the next thing I get is a call from Datatrack.
I informed my insurance company to tell them about this wonderful antitheft device and they said 'well done however there is no change to your premium. Censored 130's have feeling's as well you know Smile

I don’t see the fascination with trackers by insurance companies as having one fitted doesn’t prevent the vehicle from being stolen in the first place. Surely it’s better to have additional security which prevents the theft in the first place, (for example a disk lock or a ghost immobiliser) than it is to have a tracker fitted?!

I’m not convinced myself that if my vehicle was stolen in the middle of the night, that a professional thief wouldn’t have either found and removed the tracker or blocked the signal before the police actually got around to looking for the vehicle. By that time the vehicle is long gone hence my thoughts on preventing theft in the first place. But insurance companies seem to have a preference with trackers over anything else at the moment....

On both my puma's thats my view - steal it i dont want it back, i want you not to steal it...advertise it has a tracker increases theft options eg countermeasures as they come prepared. Mike

I kind of agree. I had one fitted to a vehicle, told Direct Line and it made no difference to my premium.

I also looked at the Autowatch Ghost, but thought putting in a code each time might drive me a little bit insane.

It becomes JLR problem when customers can’t insure their brand new vehicle because they didn’t have the right spec vehicle that wasn’t advised to them when placing order.

With the ST Pro, it’s £180 for the first year but for three it’s £248/year.

Obvious question, if you get the one year package what happens when that runs out? Assuming it’s an option to extend, will peeps have to sell their first born or is it at a similar level?

In Control Remote and Secure is £260

https://www.landrover.co.uk/ownership/inco...index.html

Not sure if thats the standard tracker of the Tracker Pro - or both?

I think the In Control is Included for 3 years - and that is £36 a year after

So I guess between the £250 to £300 a year...

ST Pro has made zero difference to my premium, in fact it was a classified as an option that
bumped up the replacement cost, hence the quote respectively Laughing

Had my RRS in an accredited secure storage whilst I was in Hong Kong for 3 years, still charged
full annual premiums Evil or Very Mad yet another pommie bar steward down under

JLR don’t know if you can or can’t insure a car. It’s the insurance companies that are the problem. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

They've clearly had feedback though and added the pop up message to the Configurator.

Just clocked that you have to add keyless entry if you want the tracker pro system. Giving added security with one hand and taking it away with t’other. Whistle Whistle

It wouldnt surprise me - i really believe its just a subscription and no extra kit required...but i bet there is no way to pay or engage JLR to pay for the extra Mike
