Should I clean engine ??
Just returned from northern Mozambique. Had to a lot of driving through mud an rivers etc. The engine compartment has a lot mud everywhere. Must I clean the engine? Should I leave the sand and mud in case I damage the electrics etc?

Thanks

Anthony

Clean it . Spray electrical areas with WD40 and leave to dry .Nothing like mud etc left there to initiate corrosion and acting as a grinding paste to all moving parts.

Do it with a warmed up engine so it dries out rapidly.

and go for a drive straight after. (good practice after cleaning any vehicle)

i have always steam cleaned or pressure washed engines either off or running tdi, tgv, td5 - tdci hasn't been used properly yet so is yet to be done. Cheers

Thank you everyone for the advice. I was a bit worried about those electrical connecting plugs around the engine. I will buy some WD40 and spry it on the electrical connecting plugs etc. And then spray the engine with carefully with water.

Regards

Anthony

If you dont have WD40 in SAFFA , use Q20 ,spray all connectors , pressure wash , and drive it dry
