I like the Bundtec and I'm amazed at their claimed 20kg weight.

It's a huge mattress area as well, this will probably be my next tent, I'd like to see some of the 'rough' african engineering improved, but nothing that couldn't be dealt with if breakages happen.

It looks like the rivet the edges together, it would be good to know how waterproof these joins are?

Their wrap around awning looks good too, they've engineered a clever drop to shed water, something most other Southern brands forget.

I travelled around a lot in my Defnder, and my credo is to travel as light as possible without aditional weight om the roof. Make life as simple as possible. For the price of a RTT, you can buy a lot of easy erecting modern tents.

Sticky,

The BunduTop actually weighs in at 64kg, still not bad at all for an all aluminium and heavy duty South African canvas hard top tent Smile

The 20kg refers to the load you can fix to the roof (solar panels etc).

I've been out using our demo unit for the last few weeks (in storms too) and it works really well! Extremly comfortable and addictively quick & easy for setup / Packaway, even compared to our other clamshell hardtops (guess Im getting lazy).

On a serious note though the setup/packaway makes it really suitable for folk who dont want to, or can't, safely hang off the side/rear of a Land Rover packing away a tent.
