We have a Dynamic in Firenze Red with Black pack so it is a good looking car. Set out looking for a 3door petrol but they are hard to find but ended up with 5door diesel!
It is a very fast motor, 3years old with 30k miles no major problems so far. Haldex pump went but fixed under warranty, the odd squeak from ARB bush also fixed under warranty. We had D3 and D4 and this is not in the same class but ideal for the two of us, I am very impressed by it. Selling the D4 and her TT allowed her to get the Evoque and me to get a Defender 300Tdi so good deal all round. Have a look at Martin,s babyRR forum which is a sister site to this one. Americans love them. Jeff Ex 1968 Series 2A Ex 90 TD5 Ex D3 Ex D4 |

The Mrs has a SD4 with the manual box, 2.2 engine and pano roof.
It's a great run about and motorway cruiser and a good match for my 110 (we'll take the Evoque if we're after a few creature comforts or it's a long'ish trip). If we were to buy another one I think I'd go with the automatic gearbox and techno pack (reversing camera etc). |

Think this thread deserves to be merged with the other current lively thread about 501. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Careful on the Merc A Class. We got rid of our's after 18 months - couldn't stand the rattles (and that's after driving Defenders for 10 years). Lovely car to drive, corners like nothing I've ever driven, then onto motorway and it would start to buzz and rattle - door pillars, under steering wheel, dashboard, everywhere. Such a shame. Went back to dealers umpteen times, they just weren't interested - everyone was bringing them in complaining. Maybe they've fixed it in the last 2 years, I don't know, but there are supposed to be problems with the C Class too. Cheap plastics used to keep the weight down. |

Greeni, if you get one, there is even the below for you then.

We had one for two years. This was bought on the trade in of an early disco 4. Repair costs on that were soaring. The ewok was a car not a 4x4. Even though it was. Boot was tiny and I found the auto box hesitant at junctions and found myself in sticky situations more than once. Door lock actuators seem to be an issue and I've heard of a number of these being replaced.
I clean all my own cars by hand and although the ewok looked good it was flimsy. Huge areas of painted plastic and stuck on trim. Loads of gaps where water sits and pools ready to pour out as soon as a door is shut or the engine started. I watched them being built at halewood and although the process was impressive it showed me how much of the vehicle was just trim. |

Hello.
The mother of my wife has this vehicle and for me it is a good car for the French market because it is looking more than the other little boxes that we drive. Unfortunate then that this vehicle is not what it seems as there is not much car. Not feeling very solid and not even practical. Really very small spaces on the inside for stockage. Additionally this vehicle has returned to the selling garage many times in just 18 months for fixing of "gremlins". I do not like this vehicle. Sorry. Léo |

A45?..Too harsh for us. Wifey has Audi RS3 Sportback,...360HP quattro weapon,..no-one beats her off the mark, but PLENTY would beat her petrol economy! But check out the "new" update RS3, to be released in a couple of months,..400HP, 30kilos lighter over the front axle owing to alloy engine etc,...it will be insane,....and comfortable. Pickles. |

Having sold them for 3 years
I have just replaced my wife's aging 3 series with a shiney new HSE Dynamic She loves it , and to be fair , they drive pretty well They aren't a Vogue or a Discovery , but its capabilities off road really surprised me as I expected little better than a Rav4 Drive one and make up your own mind. My wife recently purchased a Discovery Sport after test driving numerous SUV's. That was her first choice and guess what, the runner up was the Evoque. Only because the DS had more room in the back. We both liked the Evoque and if you want two doors and can afford to sacrifice sone headroom and rear luggage space then I'd say go for it. Defender 90XS SW
