Evoque... Opinion?
I popped in the Land Rover dealership today to order parts for my 90..

Mrs G strolled around the sales lot looking at Evoques....you can guess the rest Rolling Eyes

So, I know they've been around a few years now and I know some of you have owned/own one.

Any issues to look for?

Note: this will NOT replace her 90!

There not that bad, we've had a couple as loners when cars have been in for service and warranty work.

Eewok Rolling Eyes
My wife's sister has one which we occasionally use when visiting her in Belgium, so we speak from experience.
What can I say, well, it does not deserve the prestigious RR label as the interior could be of any other mid class Eurobox.
As to the outside.... Thud Ner Ner
But it drives well like any other mid class Eurobox would drive well, as good as a reasonably well equipped Renault Megane or Peugeot 308 for instance. Mr. Green
And oh yes, the windshield wipers do work very well, we have tested those on several occasions with the typical Belgian "horizontal rain". Laughing
Further, you do not need much time to clean the rear window. There is not much of it. Rolling with laughter
Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

I quite like the convertible version I saw recently. Its just that squashed in roof I dislike.

I like it tbh and considering one myself. Yes it's a car for the masses so a bit of a Euro box but I think a good one when I have had one on loan. Is it a true Land Rover well against the current line up yes but a defender no. I do think it's good value (I have had excell out against seat ateca vw Tiguan etc) but this always depends on the spec you want.

Had one on loan from the Dealers last week. Sorry to disagree with some of the stuff above, but it was a really nice motor. It did everything it was suppose to do. If I were to say anything negative, it's a bloody great car with very little room within it (considering the outside dimensions). Boot is quite small and has been discussed above, the roof does the rear passenger space no favours.

For a two seater with enough room to get friends backwards and forwards to the town.

One thing it is not is a Defender (I don't believe it ever was looking for that badge?). If of course we are comparing it to the beloved Defender, it is a characterless, boring and does not bring a smile to the face - oh and no one waves at you in other Evoques. It does however have a cracking stereo, climate control, full leather interior (without needing to be retrofitted), electric rear windows, it's quiet, doesn't seem to leak water in or oil out, pretty good MPG (on the one I borrowed)

It does look a bit like a hairdressers car (sorry for offending any hairdressers out there).

That's not very PC... I laughed my 455 off Laughing

@docP....I didn't want to mention the colour...it's pearl white. Shocked Laughing We have a lad at work who has Asperger's, he always says I look like Mr Incredible in the 500 Laughing which by the way is a truly fantastic car.

Good comments so fa, thank you. Basically it's just going to be used as a car. It HAS to be a 2 door, we have no kids and I prefer the look of the 2 door, the back window looks great all squashed down. I've never really heard anything bad about them AND it is still a Land Rover.

The Land Cruiser Is currently on eBay...which doesn't have an LR badge (perhaps the only reason we're selling!).

My mate Steve has just bought one via JLR who he works for, He doesn't usually keep cars for more than 2 years so we will see how this one fares, we sort of hope he doesn't like it as my other half fancies one and we would get this for a serious knock down if he is getting rid of it Smile

Again, I can only really comment on having loan vehicles from the Dealer - this includes a week when the engine went pop in the D4 (whole different story...) and would suggest that the Evoque is a completely different experience to the (largely) similar Discovery Sport.

2 door is good - personally, I like the look of them although there will always be compromises with access to the rear but, if it's just for your use and very occasional use of the rear seats, then good choice. Having said that, we went down the route of a Merc SLC for the Fun Prevention Officer... no rear seats at all to worry about!

Finally, our daughter is in Off-Road Capability at JLR - I was slightly amused when she confessed to spending the day with an Evoque in 'Mud & Ruts' setting but they are tested during model year changes etc to ensure that they retain the basic LR DNA of being able to go places that other cars simply wouldn't! Whilst it may have a RR badge, it's underpinned by some proper development work...
