Trailer repeater indicator problem
Hi

Picked up a used TD5 and whenever I indicate the trailer repeater will also flash despite no trailer being connected, a previous owner replaced all the lights but the headlights with LED if that makes any difference. Any advice appreciated

Does it flash all the time or just once when you start indicating ?

If the latter then that's normal, it's done to prove that the dashboard indicator works (or at least that's the official line...) http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/

It does exactly what I do with the indicator so if I indicate it flashes for as long as I'm indicating and is off when not indicating

Mine does this as well. It is to do with the replacement relay for the indicators. The early ones could not control the flashing of the trailer tell tale independantly. I believe that RDX and Wipac now do relays that work as they should once dialled in correctly. 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green - It's a keeper.

It could be down to any number of things but I'd start by changing the flasher unit - you may find that there's a none standard one fitted to cope with the LED indicators. The quality of these is "variable" ! http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/

Mine is a wipac one which came with the kit. IF I have any trouble I'll change it but to be honest to date I haven't had an issue. 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green - It's a keeper.
