mysterious noise
Yesterday I noticed vibrating noise comming from the drivers side of the engine. It only appeared when comming off the accelerater.Today in daylight and with the help of Mrs. Spudfan I found the cause. It was a loose bracket holding the heatshield in place over the turbo. It just needes tightened.Thought I would post it incase someone else experienced it. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Well diagnosed. Was it a buzzing noise or a rattle (I appreciate that's a slightly subjective question).

Sounded like a roughness when easing off the accelerator. Was very loud when I pulled the bonnet and pushed then released the pedal by hand.Today when the mrs. worked the pedal I could see a shudder in the heatshield as she came off the revs.I did not know if it was the heatshield or the turbo. All the bolts on the heatshield seemed tight. Then I noticed a bracket that is bolted to the engine just behind the pulleys was vibrating so I tightened the bolt holding it and the problem was solved.Sounds complicated but it is the only way I can describe it.Anyway it was very easily cured once I found the problem.I am glad I did not go to a garage with it but it was bothering me last night.Eduardo could probably put up a diagram of the turbo and heatshield and the bracket would be easily seen then.He is normally very good with those things. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel
