Which carpets are best? (110 Station Wagon)
Whilst I am very happy with the sound deadening and practicality of the standard XS rubber floor coverings - particularly in the front and middle - I'm looking at sorting out the rear, especially the rear wheel arches that allow a lot of noise in to the cabin.

My plan is to remove the rubber floor coverings, dynamite the rear and install some carpet to make Dolly a little more 'conventional'.

Where / what is the best carpet to be looking at? I've seen the LRI option online and know of Exmoor trim but I've never seen either of these first hand. Any advice and views would be appreciated!
Thumbs Up

None! Gets wet and absorbs water! I'm seriously thinking about gradually removing the carpeted bits from mine.

I'm still using carpet. A lot of people here are spraying in rhino liner...

Can't quite bring myself to commit to something that drastic. 1999 Defender 110

eugh, carpet. We have it in the farm one for some reason that I can't work out. It's horrible.
Mine just has rubber matting, and that's better but still not perfect because it still gets damp underneath.

When I was looking to buy my latest Defender there were two I was interested in, a 90 County with carpets and a 90 basic SW with no carpets. The carpets in the County were wet through due to ingress of water, so that put me off completely.

KM, can't remember who, but someone on this forum was soundproofing their SW and then had sourced a roll of carpet on-line that they were cutting to fit. A fairly recent post (within the last month), sure you'll be able to find it. Thumbs Up Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....

Carpet will be soaked and get melded soon
So why don't you just get some rubber sheets? Perhaps with chequer plate marks on them
